Gesture Control allows you to perform actions like switching FOV and enabling subject tracking with specific gestures, creating a more efficient and smooth shooting experience. This article provides detailed instructions for Gesture Control and related FAQ answers to help you get started easily.

How to zoom with gestures

  1. Ensure your face is within the camera's frame.
  2. Make the "L" gesture and hold it until the camera's indicator light flashes blue rapidly, which indicates the zoom feature has been activated.
  3. Move your hand upward and hold it to zoom in continuously. Move your hand downward and hold it to zoom out continuously. Zooming will stop when no gesture is detected or when the maximum/minimum zoom level is reached.

FAQ

1. When using the "L" gesture to zoom, is the zoom target the same as the tracked target? For example, does it only zoom in on the person making the gesture? If I make the "L" gesture next to an object, will it not be zoomed in?
  • The function of zooming by the "L" gesture relies on head detection technology. It can only be successfully activated by making the "L" gesture near a human head.
  • Making the "L" gesture next to an object without a human head will not trigger the zoom operation.

Please note: This function shares the same logic as the "Tracking" feature, as both are based on head detection. However, this function and the "Tracking" feature are independent operations and are not directly linked.

2. What is the zoom range when using the "L" gesture with a Webcam? For example, what is the maximum zoom level?
  • Currently, zooming with the"L" gesture is stepless. Theoretically, the zoom range is between 1x and 4x.
  • In practice, if you zoom in to a certain level, the "L" gesture may move outside the camera's main frame. When this happens, the zoom operation will stop, potentially preventing you from reaching the theoretical maximum of 4x zoom.

Please note: For continuous zooming in, the "L" gesture must remain within the main frame.

3. If multiple persons are in the frame, what rules does the camera follow for gesture recognition? If multiple persons move in different directions, does this affect the recognition result?
  • When multiple persons are detected, the camera will only track one person at a time. Similarly, for the "L" gesture recognition, it will only respond to the first "L" gesture it detects.
  • Different movement directions of multiple persons do not directly affect the camera's "L" gesture recognition rules, and the camera still responds to the first gesture it detects.
