FAQ
1. Does the Whiteboard Mode only work with whiteboards? Will it not work with other surfaces like blackboards?
The Whiteboard Mode supports not only whiteboards but also blackboards and displays. However, using the mode requires the included recognition stickers.
Please note:
- Link does not support the Smart Whiteboard Mode, and only Link 2, Link 2C, Link 2 Pro, and Link 2C Pro support the mode.
- The Smart Whiteboard Mode only recognizes whiteboards and does not require stickers.
2. What is the difference between the Smart Whiteboard Mode and the Whiteboard Mode?
- Whiteboard Mode (Standard)
- Automatically corrects and clearly displays the content on the whiteboard in full screen by recognizing the area defined by the recognition stickers.
- Supports both Gesture Control and control via Insta360 Link Controller.
- Smart Whiteboard
- No recognition stickers are required.
- Insta360 Link Controller automatically detects or allows manual setting of the whiteboard area, then automatically corrects and displays it in full screen.
3. What is the maximum recognition distance for the Whiteboard feature?
- Front-facing: Up to 16.4ft (5m)
- Side-facing (angle ≤ 30°): Up to 9.8ft (3m)
Please note: When using the Whiteboard Mode (standard), make sure the four borders of the whiteboard are fully and clearly visible, otherwise recognition failure may occur.
4. Can the Link series switch to the Portrait Mode in the Whiteboard Mode?
Yes. You need to set the camera to the portrait mode first, and then enable the Whiteboard Mode.
Please refer to: Link Series: Switching to Portrait Mode
5. Can the recognition stickers be reused? Do I need glue to enhance adhesion when reusing them?
- The recognition stickers can be reused approximately 100 times.
- When reusing them, you can attach them directly. You may also use double-sided tape for additional fixation.
- If the stickers are lost or no longer adhesive, you can purchase replacement whiteboard sticker accessories from Insta360 Store.
6. Why does the whiteboard mode recognition take longer on Link 2 Pro / Link 2C Pro than on Link 2 / Link 2C?
This is because Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro use a more intelligent "dual detection" mechanism. They first attempt to directly recognize the physical whiteboard without using stickers, and will automatically switch to detecting the whiteboard recognition stickers only if no whiteboard is detected. In contrast, Link 2 and Link 2C directly detect the stickers. Therefore, a slightly longer recognition time is normal.
7. What happens if there are multiple whiteboards in the frame in the Smart Whiteboard Mode?
The camera will automatically detect all whiteboards in the frame. You can manually select the whiteboard area you want to focus on in the Insta360 Link Controller.
