FAQ

1. What is AI Tracking?

AI Tracking automatically recognizes and locks onto a subject appearing in the frame. When you move, the camera uses its gimbal movement and smart zoom to follow you, ensuring you remain in the frame. You can also customize the subject's position, tracking speed, and frame size in Insta360 Link Controller.

2. Do all models in the Link series support AI Tracking?

No, only Link, Link 2 and Link 2 Pro support AI Tracking. Although Link 2C and Link 2C Pro do not support AI tracking, they feature "Auto Framing", which provides similar functionality to "Smart Composition" under AI tracking and can meet the same scenario requirements.

3. Can the AI Tracking feature track objects or pets?

No. AI Tracking is designed to track human faces only. It does not support tracking hands, objects, or animals.

4. Will the camera turn off AI Tracking automatically if it does not detect a person?

The camera will automatically turn off AI Tracking if it does not detect a person for 60 seconds.

5. What is the maximum AI Tracking distance for the Link series?

9.8ft (3m).

6. If the subject leaves the frame, will AI Tracking of the Link series camera resume automatically when the subject returns, or do I need to restart AI tracking?

When the tracked subject leaves the field of view of the Link series camera and reappears during tracking, AI Tracking will automatically resume and continue tracking.

7. What is the maximum number of people suitable for multi-person tracking?

It is recommended to use Group Tracking for 2 to 3 people to achieve the best recognition and framing performance.

8. Does the camera support adjusting the framing (adjusting the subject's position in the frame) during tracking?

Yes, you can adjust the framing during tracking using the following method:

  • Method 1: Tap "AI Tracking" > enable Smart Composition (which supports Auto Zoom).

9. What are the specific application scenarios of the "Pause-Track Area" and "Tracking Area"?
  • Pause-Track Area: When a person enters this zone, the camera pauses tracking and automatically zooms in to focus on the area—ideal for presenting key information such as whiteboards or product demonstrations. Tracking resumes automatically once the person leaves.
  • Tracking Area: A defined zone where tracking is active. The camera stops tracking once the person moves outside this area—suitable for privacy protection or delineating a workspace, such as limiting tracking to the office area during remote work to avoid capturing private spaces.
