Insta360+: Wi-Fi Configuration Error

Insta360+: Wi-Fi Configuration Error

Applicable Models: X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, X6, Ace Pro 2, and GO Ultra

Scenario 1: After switching to other devices, none of them can connect to the current Wi-Fi

This issue may be caused by the current Wi-Fi network not functioning properly. Please switch to another available network and try configuring Wi‑Fi for your camera again.

Scenario 2: After switching to other devices, they can connect to the current Wi-Fi normally

Issue 1

When configuring Wi‑Fi for the camera in the Insta360 app for iOS, after jumping to the settings page on the phone and selecting a Wi‑Fi network, the selected Wi‑Fi cannot be saved, and it is impossible to proceed to the next step.

Solution

This may be caused by an iOS system update. Please follow these steps: Open "Settings" on your phone → "Apps" → "Insta360" → "Location" → enable "Precise Location", and check whether the issue is resolved.

Solution

This may be caused by an iOS system update. Please follow these steps:

After jumping to the settings page on your phone, go back to the Wi‑Fi settings page, connect to the corresponding Wi‑Fi network, and complete the camera Wi‑Fi configuration.

Issue 3

Wi‑Fi connection fails during network configuration with error code 7002.

Solution
  1. Go to Settings on your phone > Wi-Fi > tap the connected Wi-Fi and check the encryption type and whether the Wi-Fi name (SSID) is hidden. The supported Wi-Fi network types by camera model are listed below:

Wi-Fi Network Type

Camera Support

Solution

WPA3-encrypted Wi-Fi

Supported: X4, X4 Air, X5, Ace Pro 2, and GO Ultra Not supported: X2 and X3

If you are using an X2 or X3 camera, go to your router's settings page, change the Wi-Fi encryption type to WPA2, and then try connecting again

Password-free open Wi-Fi requiring authentication (e.g., public Wi-Fi networks in airports or hotels)

Supported: X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, and X5 Not supported: Ace Pro 2 and GO Ultra

If you are using an Ace Pro 2 or GO Ultra camera, please switch to a different password-protected Wi-Fi network and try connecting again

Password-protected open Wi-Fi requiring authentication

Not supported for all models

It is recommended to switch to another Wi-Fi network that meets the requirements (such as your home Wi-Fi) and then try to connect again

Wi-Fi with SSID hidden

Not supported for all models

Please go to your router's settings page, disable the option to hide the Wi-Fi name (turn off the "Hide SSID" feature), and then try connecting again.

Password-free public Wi-Fi without authentication

Supported: X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, Ace Pro 2, and GO Ultra

Supported on all applicable models; no configuration changes required

5GHz / 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (only for GO Ultra connection failures)

GO Ultra only supports 5GHz Wi-Fi; it does not support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and connecting to a mobile hotspot is not recommended

If you are using a GO Ultra camera, please switch to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network to connect your camera, then try again

  1. If the network type meets the requirements, update your camera firmware to the latest version and try again.

Please refer to: X Series: Check and Update Firmware Version and Ace Series: Check and Update Firmware

Issue 4

Wi‑Fi connection fails during network configuration with error code 7001

Solution
  • If you are using Ace Pro 2 or GO Ultra: Ace Pro 2 and GO Ultra do not currently support binding to open Wi‑Fi networks (e.g., password-free Wi‑Fi in airports, hotels, or other locations that require authentication). We recommend using another encrypted Wi‑Fi network instead.
  • If you are using other camera models: Please confirm the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly and check if other devices connected to this Wi-Fi can access the Internet normally.

Issue 5

When configuring Wi‑Fi for the GO Ultra, an error message appears: "Wi-Fi connection failed, please try again. Please check your Wi-Fi. Possible issues include: Wi-Fi malfunction, unsupported 2.4G Wi-Fi, or having special characters in the network name."

Solution
  1. Update the camera firmware and the Insta360 app to the latest versions. To update the app, search for "Insta360" in Apple App Store or your device's app store. If an "Update" button appears, tap it to update. Alternatively, you can visit the Insta360 Website to download the latest version of the Insta360 app.

For camera firmware updates, please refer to: GO Series: Check and Update Firmware Version

  1. Since GO Ultra only supports 5GHz Wi‑Fi, please connect to a compatible network.
  2. Check if the Wi‑Fi network name and password are correct.
  3. If you are using a dual‑band router, we recommend moving the camera closer to the router and reducing wall obstructions to avoid automatic switching to the 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi in case of an unstable network connection.

Issue 6

Unable to configure Wi‑Fi for the camera in other situations.

Solution
  1. Update the camera firmware and the Insta360 app to the latest versions. To update the app, search for "Insta360" in Apple App Store or your device's app store. If an "Update" button appears, tap it to update. Alternatively, you can visit the Insta360 Website to download the latest version of the Insta360 app.

For camera firmware updates, please refer to: X Series: Check and Update Firmware Version and Ace Series: Check and Update Firmware Version

  1. Check if you are using an open public Wi‑Fi network, or try using another available Wi‑Fi network instead to connect your camera.
