GO Series: How to Check and Update Firmware Version

Applicable Models: GO 3, GO 3S, and GO Ultra

Firmware updates are crucial for enhancing camera performance and refining features. The instructions below detail how to check and update the current firmware version of your camera, helping you complete the upgrade safely and quickly.

How to check the current firmware version?

Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Camera Info" > find and check "Camera Firmware Version".

How to check the latest firmware version of your camera?

Method 1: Via the Insta360 website

Go to Insta360 Downloads, select your camera model, and scroll down to "Insta360 xx Firmware" to check the latest firmware version available for your camera.

Method 2: Via the Insta360 app
  1. First, connect your camera to the Insta360 app.

  1. In the Insta360 app, tap "Me" > scroll down to "Device Settings" > "Firmware Version".
  • If there is no red dot next to the firmware version number, your camera is up to date.
  • If a red dot is present (as shown below), tap it and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

How to update firmware?

GO Ultra

General preparation

  1. Ensure the battery level of both the camera and Action Pod is above 25%, and the camera is properly placed in the Action Pod.
  2. Keep the SD card inserted in the camera and ensure it is properly recognized.

Method 1: Via the Insta360 app

  1. Connect the camera to the Insta360 app. If a new firmware version is available, an upgrade notification will pop up in the Insta360 app.
  2. Confirm the upgrade operation as prompted on the screen.

Please note:

  • Keep the camera and phone close to each other during the update and ensure a stable Internet connection on the phone.
  • Do not exit or minimize the Insta360 app during the upgrade.

Method 2: Via PC

  1. Connect the camera to PC using the original USB cable, and select "U-Disk Mode" on the camera screen.
  2. Go to Insta360 Downloads, find the latest firmware for your device, and download it to your computer.
  3. Copy the downloaded update file "Insta360GOUltraFW.pkg" directly to the root directory of the camera's memory card. Do not rename the file.
  4. Safely disconnect the camera from the computer, and the camera will automatically shut down.
  5. Manually restart the camera. The indicator light will blink blue (indicating the update is in progress). The camera will restart automatically once the update is completed.

Ensure the battery level of both the camera and Action Pod is above 25%, and the camera is properly placed in the Action Pod.
