Timely updating your gimbal's firmware can unlock new features, fix known issues, and enhance your overall experience. The following instructions outline the operational steps for your reference to check your current firmware version and update to the latest one, helping you manage your device with ease.
Instructions
Check the gimbal's current firmware version
- Connect the gimbal to the Insta360 app.
Please refer to: Flow Series: How to Connect and Activate Gimbal
- Check via one of the following paths:
Path 1: Enter the shooting interface in the Insta360 app > tap the "..." icon in the top-left corner to access Basic Settings > scroll down to find and check "Firmware Version" of the gimbal.

Path 2: Open the Insta360 app > tap "Me" to enter the settings page > scroll down to find "Device Settings" and check "Device Firmware info".

Upgrade to the latest firmware version
- Connect the gimbal to the Insta360 app.
- Wait for the Insta360 app to detect the firmware
a. The app will prompt you to update the firmware if a new version is available. Follow the step-by-step instructions on the screen to complete the upgrade.
b. If no automatic notification appears, manually navigate to the Settings page under "Me" in the Insta360 app > check "Device Firmware info". If there is a red dot to the right of the version number, tap it and follow the instructions to upgrade.
- Confirm the upgrade result
a. After the upgrade is complete, the gimbal will automatically reconnect to the Insta360 app.
b. Once connected successfully, check and confirm that the current firmware version is the latest.

How to check the latest firmware version of your camera?
Method 1: Via the Insta360 Website
- Visit the Insta360 Website, and find and select your gimbal model on the website.
- Scroll down the page to find "Insta360 xx Firmware" (where "xx" corresponds to your gimbal model) and check the latest firmware version for that model.
Method 2: Via the Insta360 app
- Connect the gimbal to the Insta360 app.
- Open the Insta360 app > tap "Me" to enter the Settings page > scroll down to find "Device Settings" > tap and check "Device Firmware info".
- Check the area to the right of the firmware version number
- If there is no red dot, your current version is the latest.
- If there is a red dot, tap it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware update.
