Solution
  1. Check the memory card

  • If you are not using a vibration damper, please send back only the camera.
  • If you are using a vibration damper, please send back both the camera and the damper.

Scenario 2: Crashing due to overheating

Description

The camera crashes during prolonged use, in high ambient temperatures, or during continuous high-load operations (such as shooting videos at high resolution or high frame rate).

Reason

To protect internal components from damage, Insta360 cameras have a built-in high-temperature protection mechanism. When the temperature threshold is reached, the camera will automatically stop shooting or shut down.

Solution
  1. Allow the camera to cool down

Place the camera in a cool, shaded environment away from direct sunlight. Allow it to cool down before attempting to shoot again.

  1. Restart the camera

If the camera remains unresponsive after cooling down, press and hold the power button to force a shutdown. Wait a few seconds, then turn the camera back on.

  1. Remove and reinstall the battery

Remove the battery and then reinstall it into the camera. Check if the issue is resolved.

Please note: If the camera is currently saving a video, please wait a moment before removing the battery to avoid data loss or corruption.

If the above solutions fail to resolve the issue, we recommend you apply for Insta360 Repair Service for professional diagnostics.

Scenario 3: Crashing when powering on

Please refer to: X Series: Camera Won't Turn On

Scenario 4: Crashing in low temperatures (for X4 Air and X5 only)

Please refer to Scenario 4 in X Series: Camera Won't Turn On.

Scenario 5: Crashing during playback on the Album page or in the camera (for X4 only)

Description

The X4 camera crashes, becomes unresponsive, lags, or shows disk errors during playback on the Album page or in the camera.

Solution

Please refer to: X Series: How to Check and Update Firmware Version.

If the above solution fails to resolve the issue, we recommend you contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.

Scenario 6: Crashing when connecting to the Insta360 app or Insta360+

Please note: If the camera is currently saving a video, please wait a moment before removing the battery to avoid data loss or corruption.

  1. Check the memory card

Remove the memory card from the camera and follow the steps below:

  • Ensure you are using a Micro SD/TF card that has a speed class of UHS-I, V30 or higher and is formatted as exFAT.

Usage recommendations

If the camera returns to normal, following the steps below is recommended to improve your experience of using the camera:

  • Update the camera firmware to the latest version: Updating the firmware can resolve some known software issues, thereby reducing the occurrence of crashes.
  • Avoid direct sunlight while shooting: This helps minimize heat buildup in the camera.
  • Remove the battery to assist cooling if the camera becomes hot.
  • Allow intermittent breaks for the camera during high-intensity tasks like continuous shooting or video recording by reducing usage frequency appropriately.
