If your camera cannot recognize the memory card or you need to format it, you can do so via the Insta360 app or directly on the camera. Formatting a memory card will permanently delete all photos and videos on the card. Please back up your valuable media files beforehand.

Method 1: Format using a computer

  1. Insert the memory card into your camera and turn it on.
  2. Connect the camera to your computer using the included USB cable.
  3. Once your computer detects the memory card, go to "My Computer" > right-click "Removable disk" > click "Format".
  4. In the pop-up window, select “exFAT” under “File system” and “128KB” under “Allocation unit size”. Do not check the “Quick Format” option.
  5. Once you have completed the above settings, click “Start.”

Method 3: Format via the camera

X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2
  1. Insert the memory card into your camera and turn it on.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, then tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > "SD Card".
  3. Tap "Format" or "Low-Level Format" based on your needs.

Please note: Only X5, X4 Air, and X4 support Low-Level Format. Low-level formatting will completely erase all data on the memory card, which can improve its performance to some extent. To avoid interruptions during shooting or recording, we recommend checking the memory card’s speed class and health status and replacing it with a higher-spec card if necessary.
