Insta360 App: How to Connect Camera to the Insta360 App

By connecting to the Insta360 app, you can remotely control the camera and edit/manage your footage. Below you will find the connection steps to help you quickly establish a connection.

Before you connect

  1. Please download and update the Insta360 app to the latest version, and agree to grant relevant permissions to ensure normal functionality.
  2. It is recommended to connect your camera via the Insta360 app. Once connected successfully, camera album data can be transferred via Wi-Fi without consuming mobile data.

How to connect your camera to the Insta360 app?

You can connect your camera to the Insta360 app via Wireless Auto Connection, Wireless Manual Connection, or Wired Connection:

Wireless Auto Connection
  1. Turn on the camera. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙), and turn on Wi-Fi.
  2. Enable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Open the Insta360 app, tap the camera icon at the bottom of the homepage, find and select your camera from the device list to connect, and follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. For the first connection, you need to tap Confirm (or press the shutter button) on the camera screen to authorize.

Wireless Manual Connection
  1. Turn on the camera. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙), locate "Wi-Fi", and check the Wi-Fi password.
  2. Enable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Open "Wi-Fi Settings" on your phone, find the camera's Wi-Fi network, tap it, and manually enter the password to connect.
  4. Open the Insta360 app to complete the connection.

Please note: After a successful connection, you can turn off your phone's Bluetooth if no further use is required.

Wired Connection
  • For Android phones
  1. Connect the camera to your Android phone using a USB cable.
  2. In the pop-up that appears on the camera, select "File Transfer" mode.
  3. Open the Insta360 app, tap "Got It" > "Choose Directory".
  4. Find "SD_Card", and tap "Use This Folder".
  5. When prompted "Allow Insta360 to access files in SD_Card?", select "Allow".

Please Note: Only supports Android V10.0 and higher; only supports specific cameras, such as X3, X4, X5, Ace Pro 2, GO 3, and GO 3S.

  • For iPhone
  1. Connect the camera to your iPhone using a USB cable.
  2. In the pop-up that appears on the camera, select "File Transfer" mode.
  3. Open the Insta360 app, tap "Choose Directory" > "Browse" in the lower right corner > "Browse" in the upper left corner.
  4. Find "SD_Card", and tap "Open" in the upper right corner > select "Album".

Please note: Only supports iPhone 15 and later models; only supports specific cameras, such as X3, X4, X5, Ace Pro 2, GO 3, and GO 3S.

How to check or change the camera's Wi-Fi name and password

Check the camera's Wi-Fi information

The password is randomly generated. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > select "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Wi-Fi Settings" to check the information.

Change the camera's Wi-Fi password

Connect your phone to the camera's Wi-Fi, then tap "Me" in the bottom right corner of the Insta360 app > tap "Other Settings" > click "Set Camera Wi-Fi Password," and follow the prompts to complete authorization and modify the password.

Please note: Currently, in-camera settings do not support changing the Wi-Fi password; it can only be changed through the Insta360 app.

Yes, it supports connecting to multiple cameras simultaneously. You can connect multiple cameras or switch between them using the following two methods:

  • Method 1: Open the Insta360 app > tap "Me" to enter the settings page > scroll down to find "Device Settings" > select another device under "Connect Device" to connect.
  • Method 2: Turn off the original camera > turn on the new camera > open the Insta360 app and tap the "Camera" icon at the bottom to reconnect.

2. What should I do if the connection between the camera and the Insta360 app is unstable?

If the connection is unstable, it is recommended to open the Insta360 app, tap "Me" to enter the settings page, find "Set Camera Region", and try selecting a different region to connect.
