X Series: Recommended Shooting Parameters

Different parameter combinations affect the detail, dynamic range, and color performance of your media. This article provides recommended parameters for X series cameras in various environments, helping you configure settings efficiently and capture high-quality images with ease.

How to set shooting parameters

1. Select a shooting mode

X6

On the shooting preview page, press the "Shooting Mode" icon in the bottom-right corner > select "Flat" or "360" > swipe left or right to select your desired shooting mode.

X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2

Tap the "Shooting Mode" icon in the bottom-left corner of the camera screen, then swipe left or right to select your desired shooting mode.

2. Set shooting parameters

After confirming the shooting mode, tap the "Shooting Specifications" icon in the bottom left corner to set parameters like resolution and frame rate.

*We recommend prioritizing the use of Insta360 Studio for exporting your media. When exporting, select H.265 as the encoding format and set the bitrate to 50 or higher. If you need to edit and export via the Insta360 app, it is recommended to select 4K resolution and set the bitrate to 50.

X4 Air

Daytime or well-lit general scenes: The recommended shooting parameters are 8K@30fps with "AdaptiveTone" enabled. Set the Color Mode to "Standard", Video Sharpness to "Medium", Shutter Speed to "Auto", and ISO to "Auto".

*Recommendations for additional general parameter settings:

• Sharpness: Medium or Low (we recommend adjusting sharpness in post-production according to your preference)
• Filter: Standard
• Audio: Enable "Auto Wind Noise Reduction"
• Bitrate: For optimal image quality, set the Bitrate to "High" (the default "Standard" bitrate helps balance file size and quality)

Please note:

• For better final media, clean the lens with a professional lens cloth or tissue before shooting to avoid flare or blurring caused by fingerprints, dust, or oil stains.
• When exporting media, prioritize high bitrates and H.265 encoding format to further enhance final media quality.
