FAQ

1. Why does the camera record my phone's location?

Since the camera itself does not have a GPS module, it does not support capturing media with location information directly, nor does it support locating the camera. Therefore, when you control shooting via the Insta360 app, the camera will automatically record the location information of the phone or other device used to control it.

Please note: If you need to record accurate GPS data during shooting, we recommend placing the control device next to the camera and using the Timed Capture to ensure that location information is synchronized.

2. Can I export a GPX file when using the camera with an Insta360 GPS remote?

The result depends on the export method for media shot using the camera controlled with an Insta360 GPS remote:

  • Source files / saving after shooting / exporting original files via software: The file format is INSP/INSV and contains GPS data.
  • Exporting via the Insta360 app: The file format is JPG/MP4 and does not contain GPS data.
  • Exporting via Insta360 Studio with the "Export GPX File" option checked: The exported video itself contains no GPS data, but a separate GPX file containing all the GPS data is generated.
