Insta360+: Wi-Fi Configuration Error
Applicable Models: X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, and Ace Pro 2
Description
When the camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi during setup (common error codes: 7001 / 7002), the issue typically relates to network environment, device settings, or system compatibility.
Solution
I. Check the current Wi-Fi
Please use another device to connect to the current Wi‑Fi. If other devices cannot access the Internet normally via the current Wi-Fi, the failure is likely caused by a Wi-Fi network issue. Switch to another available network and retry Wi-Fi configuration.
II. Scenario-specific solutions
If other devices can access the Internet normally via the current Wi-Fi, follow the solutions below based on your specific issue:
Scenario 1: When configuring Wi‑Fi for your camera in the Insta360 app on iOS, after navigating to the phone settings and selecting a Wi‑Fi network, you cannot save the selected Wi‑Fi or proceed to the next step
This issue may arise from iOS system updates. Please follow these steps:
Open your phone's "Settings" > "Apps" > "Insta360" > "Location", enable Precise Location and retry to see if the problem is resolved.

Scenario 2: Wi-Fi connection failure during setup (error code 7002)
- Check Wi-Fi encryption method and whether the Wi-Fi name is hidden
The camera currently does not support WPA3-encrypted Wi-Fi or networks with hidden SSIDs (Wi-Fi names). Go to Settings on your phone > Wi-Fi > tap the connected Wi-Fi > check the encryption type, then troubleshoot using the methods below:
- If your home Wi-Fi uses WPA3 encryption: Access your router settings and change the encryption type to WPA2. If using public Wi-Fi: Connect your phone or computer to the public Wi-Fi first, then enable a mobile hotspot for the camera to connect to.
- If connected to a hidden SSID: Disable the "hidden SSID" setting in your router before reconnecting.

- If the issue persists after the previous troubleshooting step, please confirm your camera model and Wi‑Fi information
- For X5 cameras and networks with "=" in the Wi-Fi name or password, please go to the Insta360 Website to download and install the latest camera firmware, then try again.
- For X3 and X4 cameras, or X5 cameras and networks without "=" in the Wi-Fi name or password, tap "Try Again" and check if the issue is resolved. If the issue persists, please go to the Insta360 Website to download and install the latest camera firmware, then try again.
Scenario 3: Wi-Fi connection failure during setup (error code 7001)
- If you are using Ace Pro 2: Ace Pro 2 does not currently support binding to public Wi‑Fi networks (e.g., password-free Wi‑Fi in airports, hotels, or other locations that require web or phone verification). We recommend using another encrypted Wi‑Fi network instead. Thank you for your understanding.
- Please confirm the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly. Ensure other devices connected to this Wi-Fi can access the Internet normally.
Scenario 4: Other Wi-Fi setup failure errors
Please follow these steps:
- Update both the camera firmware and Insta360 app to the latest version.
Please refer to: X Series: How to Check and Update Firmware Version and Ace Series: Check and Update Firmware Version
- Switch to another available Wi-Fi signal and retry.
- Please confirm whether you are using a public Wi‑Fi network, and try using another encrypted Wi‑Fi network instead.
If none of the above solutions resolves your issue, please contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.
