With the NFC Custom Skin, the camera can quickly wake up and connect to the Insta360 app. This article details the installation and binding steps of the NFC Custom Skin and provides some FAQ answers to help you successfully set up and use the accessory.

How to install the NFC Custom Skin

1. Unscrew the Lens Guard counter-clockwise.
2. Peel off the sticker from the circular area on the back of the NFC Custom Skin, then remove the entire protective film from the back of the Skin.
3. Attach the NFC Custom Skin to the front of the camera in the correct direction.
4. Screw the Lens Guard back on clockwise and tighten it.

How to bind the NFC Custom Skin

1. Make sure your phone's Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC are enabled.
2. Connect the camera to the Insta360 app.

1. Bring the NFC Custom Skin close to the NFC sensing area on the back of your phone. After you tap Confirm, the Insta360 app will automatically complete the binding.

1. After the NFC Custom Skin is bound, with the camera turned on, tapping the Skin against your phone's NFC sensing area will automatically wake up and connect to the Insta360 app.

Please note: The above installation and binding steps apply only to an NFC Custom Skin purchased separately or as a replacement within a bundle. The NFC Custom Skin included in the Retro Bundle (Special Edition) comes pre-installed and pre-bound.

FAQ

1. What should I do if the NFC Custom Skin is not sensitive or fails to launch the Insta360 app when tapped?

First, make sure your phone's NFC is enabled. (The NFC sensing area on iPhones is small; we recommend placing the NFC Custom Skin close to the area near the rear camera and trying the pairing again.)

If pairing fails because the camera is disconnected from the Insta360 app during the binding process, try clearing the NFC tag data and then rebinding.

Path: Open the Insta360 app, tap "Me" > "Accessory Settings" > "Clear NFC tag data". After the data is cleared, perform the binding again.

2. Can GO 3S Standard Edition users purchase an NFC Custom Skin to use with their camera?

GO 3S Standard Edition users can purchase the separately sold Retro Viewfinder which includes one NFC Custom Skin for use with their camera. After binding the Skin, you can quickly launch the Insta360 app via NFC.

However, please note that after connection, the Insta360 app's user interface and operation method will remain consistent with those for the Standard Edition camera, and the exclusive functional logic of the Retro Bundle (Special Edition) is not available.

3. Why is there a gap between the installed NFC Custom Skin and the camera body?

The NFC sensing area on the back of the Skin has a certain thickness. A slight gap between the installed Skin and the camera body is normal. It does not affect the NFC feature or adhesion, please use it with confidence.

4. Can the camera still be used underwater with the NFC Custom Skin attached?

Please try to avoid using it underwater to prevent affecting the adhesive strength of the NFC Custom Skin.

5. Can a GO 3 camera be bound with the NFC Custom Skin?

The NFC Custom Skin is sized to fit GO 3 cameras. After being attached and bound to a GO 3 camera, it can also trigger the connection to the Insta360 app via NFC.
