GO Series: Camera Charging

GO Series: Camera Charging

Applicable Models: GO 3, GO 3S, and GO Ultra

Below you will find the charging methods, charging sequence, and battery life of GO Series cameras, helping you quickly understand the device's battery life and start shooting anytime.

How to charge the Action Pod

  1. Keep the Action Pod's USB charging port clean.
  2. Use the original data cable with a 5V/2A charger to connect the Action Pod's USB charging port to a power source.

How to charge the camera via the Action Pod

  1. For the first use, remove the sticker on the back of the camera (GO Ultra has no sticker, so this step can be skipped).
  2. Keep the metal contacts on the back of the camera and inside the Action Pod clean.
  3. Check if the Action Pod has power, then place the camera into the Action Pod to start charging.

Please note:

  • It is recommended to use a separate charger for charging. The maximum input power for GO Ultra is 5V/3A.
  • A computer USB port or power bank may not deliver enough power to charge the camera and the Action Pod at the same time.
  • Before placing the camera into the Action Pod or charging case for charging, ensure the camera is fully latched to avoid charging issues caused by poor contact.
  • Ensure the environment temperature during charging is between 32°F (0°C) and 104°F (40°C).
  • GO 3 and GO 3S can also be charged via Quick Reader.

FAQ

1. Why does the indicator light turn on during charging even if it is turned off?

Even if the indicator light is disabled in "Settings", the camera will still activate the indicator light in two scenarios: a short cyan flash when turned on, and a steady red light during charging. This design helps confirm that the camera is turned on or charging.

2. Why does the camera lose power when placed into the Action Pod after being turned off?

The Action Pods of GO 3 and GO 3S are equipped with an over-discharge protection mechanism, with the following operating logic:

  • When the camera is placed into a powered-off Action Pod, the Action Pod first detects the camera's remaining power, calculates the required charging time accordingly, and automatically stops supplying power after reaching the set time.
  • After charging stops, the camera consumes a small amount of its own power to maintain basic circuit operation, resulting in slight power loss.
  • Seven days after the Action Pod is powered off, it will re-detect the camera's remaining power, recalculate the charging time, and recharge the camera.

3. When both the camera and the Action Pod/charging case are out of power, which device will be charged first when connected to an external power source?

The external power source will charge both devices simultaneously.

4. Will using a 5V/1A power source to charge the camera cause adverse effects?

It may lead to abnormal charging interruptions or poor charging performance due to insufficient current.

5. Can the battery continue to be used after 300 charge-discharge cycles?

Yes.

6. How many times can a fully charged Action Pod charge a fully depleted camera?

GO 3 and GO 3S: Approximately 2 to 2.5 times

GO Ultra: Approximately 1.8 to 2 times

7. Why is there no response when the Action Pod/charging case is turned on after long-term storage and then connected to the power adapter for charging?

If the camera is not used for a long time, the battery power will gradually drain, which is determined by the physical characteristics of the battery itself.

When the power is completely exhausted, the battery will enter an "over-discharged" state. After connecting to a power source, it needs 5-8 minutes of slow charging to recover, during which the Action Pod screen will display a low-battery charging icon.

8. Does the camera support shooting while charging?

Yes.

9. What is the logic for the Action Pod to charge the camera?

The charging logic varies slightly by camera model, as detailed below:

  • GO Ultra

Status

Action Pod Power

Charging Behavior Description

Both the camera and the Action Pod are powered off

>10%

The Action Pod will charge the camera on demand and stop charging when the set time is reached

Both the camera and the Action Pod are powered on (not shooting)

>10%

The Action Pod will continuously charge the camera

No shooting in progress (low battery alert)

≤10%

You can choose "Continue Charging" or not. If "Yes" is selected, charging will last until the Action Pod's power is exhausted

Both the camera and the Action Pod are powered on (shooting in progress)

>10%

The camera prioritizes the Action Pod as its power source, and charging will not occur

Camera (shooting in progress)

≤10%

Regardless of your choice ("Yes" or "No"), charging will stop, and the camera will use its own battery first during shooting

  • GO 3 and GO 3S

>15%

The Action Pod will charge the camera on demand and stop charging when the set time is reached

Both the camera and the Action Pod are powered on (not shooting)

>15%

The Action Pod will continuously charge the camera

Both the camera and the Action Pod are powered on (shooting in progress)

You can choose "Continue Charging" or not. If "Yes" is selected, charging will last until the Action Pod's power is exhausted

Camera (shooting in progress)

≤15%

Regardless of your choice ("Yes" or "No"), charging will stop, but the camera will still prioritize the Action Pod as its power source during shooting
