Firmware

Q1 What should I do if a firmware update fails?

There are two ways to update the firmware: via the app and via computer. (Please refer to the tutorial for detailed instructions on updating firmware via the app and via computer)

If the firmware update fails, remove GO 2 from the Charge Case, then long press the camera's Action Button and the Charge Case Mode Button for 7 seconds to force shutdown. You can now try again to complete the update.

For updating firmware via the app, please note:

  1. GO 2's battery must be at least 50%, and the Charge Case should display at least 2 bars of battery.
  2. GO 2 should be in the Charge Case and both should be powered on.
  3. The update process will last around 1 to 2 minutes. The camera will update first, then the Charge Case. After the camera is successfully updated it will briefly disconnect from the Charge Case.
  4. The Charge Case takes longer than the camera to update. The Charge Case screen will display a progress bar during the update process.
  5. After the update, please check the firmware versions of the camera and the Charge Case have been updated.

If you're unable to complete the update via the app, restart GO 2 and try to complete the download via your computer.

For updating firmware via your computer, please note:

  1. The downloaded firmware file must be saved in the root directory of the camera's internal memory.
  2. Do not change the name of the firmware file. The original file name should be: Insta360Go2FW.pkg.
  3. GO 2's battery must be at least 50%.
  4. If the upgrade still fails, please back up the files in the camera's internal memory and format the internal memory, then try the update process again.

If the above steps makes no difference, please contact us with the current firmware version and the updated version for further support.

Q2 What should I do if a firmware update of the Charge Case fails?

Please refer to the following steps to complete the firmware update if the Charge Case fails to finish it.

  1. If it is the first time you connect the camera, please make sure the black sticker on the back of the GO 2 has been removed.
  2. If it doesn’t fix it, please take GO 2 out from the Charge Case, then long press the button on GO 2 and the Charge Case Mode Button for 7 seconds to restart, then place it back in to the Charge Case, fold the Case and open it. After that, please check if the firmware update goes well.
