Flow Series: Bluetooth Connection

Flow Series: Bluetooth Connection

Applicable Models: Flow, Flow Pro, Flow 2, and Flow 2 Pro

Bluetooth connection is the foundation for using the gimbal's functions. Below is the first-time connection process, compatibility requirements, and solutions for potential connection issues, which can help you quickly complete Bluetooth pairing and enjoy a seamless shooting experience.

How to complete Bluetooth connection for the first time

1. Confirm whether your phone is compatible
  • Bluetooth version: Requires Bluetooth 5.0 or later. You can check the Bluetooth parameters in your phone's "Settings" > "About Phone".
  • System version: Android phones: Android 7.0 or later; iPhones: iOS 11 or later, and iPhone 8 or later models.
2. Power on the device

Turn on the gimbal. Bluetooth will activate automatically (it cannot be turned off manually).

3. Connect to the phone

Via Insta360 app: Open the Insta360 app, tap the camera icon at the bottom of the page, select the corresponding gimbal from the list of discovered Bluetooth devices, and follow the prompts to complete pairing.

Via system Bluetooth: Go to "Settings" on your phone > "Bluetooth", enable Bluetooth, search for the gimbal's signal, and tap the corresponding name to connect.

FAQ

1. How to change the paired phone?

Method 1: Navigate to "Bluetooth Settings" on the original phone, disconnect from the gimbal. Then, turn on Bluetooth on the new phone, detect the gimbal's signal, and connect to it.

Method 2: Press and hold the gimbal's trigger button and shutter button simultaneously for 3 seconds to reset Bluetooth. After that, re-pair with the new phone.

*If the gimbal's Bluetooth is already connected to a device, other phones will not be able to detect its Bluetooth signal. A single gimbal can only connect to one phone at a time.

2. How to unbind or remove the gimbal from my Insta360 account?

The gimbal does not need to be bound to an Insta360 account; it only needs to be connected to the Insta360 app via a mobile phone, so there is no need to remove it from the account.

If you need to transfer the gimbal to another person, you can follow these steps below:

  1. In the Bluetooth settings list of your phone, find the paired gimbal device (the device name is usually "Flow****"), and select "Ignore" or "Unpair" to disconnect the current connection.
  2. The new user can open the Insta360 app on their own phone, search for and re-pair the gimbal according to the on-screen instructions, and then use it normally.

3. How to switch between paired gimbal devices?

1. Power on the other gimbal.

2. In the Insta360 app, tap the camera icon at the bottom. Select the other gimbal from the Bluetooth list to switch connections.

3. If you need to control your phone's native camera, go to "Bluetooth Settings" on your phone and tap the name of the other gimbal to connect directly.

Please note: If switching fails, delete the previous gimbal from your phone's Bluetooth Settings menu and try again. A single gimbal can only connect to one phone at a time.

4. Can the phone connect to a Bluetooth headset after pairing with the gimbal? Where does the audio come from?

Yes. When recording videos, the audio is captured by the phone's built-in microphone, which is consistent with the audio input method of the phone's native camera.

5. Can the gimbal be used for direct shooting without connecting to the Insta360 app?

Yes. After pairing via the phone's system Bluetooth, functions such as photo taking, video recording, and gimbal stabilization can be used, but Insta360 app-exclusive features like Deep Track cannot be used.

6. Why do Flow Pro / Flow 2 Pro have two Bluetooth names?

These models adopt dual-mode Bluetooth technology, and the two names correspond to different functions respectively:

  • Flow Pro XXXXXX: Used to connect to the Insta360 app for full gimbal functionality. E.g.: Flow Pro 16NKAC
  • Flow Pro Dock XXXXXX: Used to adapt to Apple DockKit. E.g.: Flow Pro Dock 16NKAC

7. How to switch connections between the Insta360 app and Apple DockKit?

The Bluetooth connections of the two do not conflict with each other, allowing free switching without disconnecting the existing connection:

  • Switch from Apple DockKit to Insta360 app: Open the Insta360 app directly and follow the prompts to pair.
  • Switch from Insta360 app to Apple DockKit: Align the NFC sensing area of your phone with the NFC marker on the gimbal body, then pair and connect.
