Q1 Which apps is Flow compatible with?

The official Insta360 app.
For Live Mode, Flow has been tested and is currently compatible with Instagram/TikTok/FaceTime/Skype/Facebook Messenger/WeChat/Lark/Line.

Q2 Can the zoom speed be adjusted?

Yes, you can change it in the Insta360 app. There are three speeds to choose from (fast, medium, and slow).

Q3 Can the joystick speed be adjusted?

Yes, you can change it in the Insta360 app. There are three speeds to choose from (fast, medium, and slow).

Q4 Can the tracking speed be adjusted?

Yes, you can change it in the Insta360 app. You cannot change the tracking speed in Auto mode.

Q5 How do I access Shot Genie?

There are three ways to access Shot Genie.

  1. Click on the Movie icon in the corner of the app to enter Shot Genie, select the scene you want to shoot, and get tailored shooting templates.
  2. Click the three dots in the corner to enter general settings, turn on Scene Recognition and point the camera at the scene for 5 seconds. Shot Genie will recognize the current scene and recommend suitable templates.
  3. Click the three dots in the corner to enter general settings, turn on Voice Control and say which scene you would like to shoot, such as "How to film my friends at the beach" or a specific activity. Shot Genie will match your voice command to relevant shooting templates.

Q6 Can you zoom in with the front camera after connecting to the Insta360 app?

No, you can only zoom in with the back camera on your smartphone.

Q7 Does the Insta360 app have face filters?

Yes, but they cannot be applied if you're shooting in 4K or 60fps.

Q8 If I change the resolution of footage in the Insta360 app, will it change the resolution of my smartphone camera?

No, it will only change the resolution of the footage.

Q9 Can I change shooting parameters in the Insta360 app?

For iOS users: In the camera interface, tap settings Insta360 at the top of the screen to adjust shooting parameters. You can adjust shutter speed (S), ISO (SO) and exposure compensation (EV). To adjust white balance (AWB), you need to turn off Auto Mode.
For Android users: You can adjust white balance (AWB) and exposure compension (EV) in the settings menu. ISO and shutter speed cannot be manually adjusted. For more information, please check the phone compatibility list.


Q10 Will footage shot with Flow save to my phone's album or the Insta360 app?

The footage shot with Flow will be directly saved to the phone's album and be available in the Insta360 app.

Q11 If footage taken with Flow saves to my phone and the Insta360 app, does it take up twice the space?

No, if you delete the footage from your phone's album, it cannot be accessed in the Insta360 app's album either.

Q12 Can Flow track people/objects?

Yes, Flow has an advanced AI tracking algorithm. There are three ways to start tracking a person or object once connected to the Insta360 app:

  1. Draw a box around the subject.
  2. Press the Trigger Button once.
  3. Use gesture control to start recording and tracking (must be enabled in settings).

For methods 2 and 3, Flow will automatically select the person/object in the center of the frame.

Q13 Does Flow shoot panorama photos?

Yes, Flow shoots 3x3, 180, 240 and 360 panoramas as long as the phone is compatible. Please refer to the compatibility list.

Place Flow on a horizontal surface at least 2 meters from the main subject for optimal stitching.

Q15 Does Flow support controling the phone camera?

Yes. Flow supports controling the phone's original camera by connecting to the phone's system Bluetooth. For details, please check the compatibility list.

Q16 Does Flow support gesture controls?

Yes. Once enabled, you can give a hand gesture to start shooting or shooting and tracking. For more information, please refer to the tutorial.

Note: Both the face and full hand must be visible to trigger gesture control.


Q17 Which phones support auto app connection?

Compatible iOS users can enable this feature. Once enabled, your phone will automatically detect when Flow is powered on and display a notification to start shooting. Please refer to the compatibility list.

Q18 I've enabled iOS auto app connection. Why isn't it working?

  1. For first-time use, please complete device pairing before enabling auto-app connection.
  2. Update your phone software to the latest version.
  3. After enabling the auto app connection, make sure you turn on Notifications, Location and Precise Location permissions in your phone settings.
  4. Turn on Location Based Alerts. Go to phone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then tap the Insta360 app to turn alerts on based on your location.

Note: The full scan interval for each auto-app connection notification is approximately 30 seconds.
