Insta360 App: How to Register for Extended Warranty

Registration for extended warranty is a new benefit introduced in the Insta360 app v1.11.0. After successful registration, eligible cameras can receive an additional 3 months of warranty, extending the total warranty period to 15 months. The following guide will help you quickly obtain this extra warranty benefit.

Prerequisites

Your camera is eligible if it meets all three conditions below. After you activate the camera, if the Insta360 app detects that you are not logged in, a prompt to register for the extended warranty will appear automatically. You can follow the instructions to receive the additional 3-month warranty.

Condition 1: Eligible models are X2, Ace, Ace Pro, Ace Pro 2, GO 3, GO 3S, GO Ultra, Flow, Flow 2, and Flow 2 Pro.

Condition 2: The camera is still under the warranty provided by Insta360.

Condition 3: The camera has not previously been bound to the "Register for 3 Months of Extended Warranty" benefit.

Instructions

  1. Open the Insta360 app and activate an eligible camera. If you are not logged into the Insta360 app, a prompt will appear automatically to remind you to register for the extended warranty. Complete verification by entering your email address and set a password. If your camera is eligible for this extended warranty benefit and has been connected to the Insta360 app before, you will first be taken to the page to confirm the camera's serial number.

  1. Proceed to complete the "Select your shooting scenarios" and "Account Info" pages (these two steps cannot be skipped).

  1. Once all the steps above are completed, your registration is successful, and the 3-month extended warranty is automatically added to your camera.
  2. To verify, connect the camera, tap "Me" > find "Device Settings" > tap "Device Information" to check the warranty expiry date. If you do not choose to register immediately, a reminder for the extended warranty registration will be displayed on the Settings page.

Please note:

If you are unable to register for an extended warranty, it might be due to the following reasons:

  • Only users who register a new Insta360 app account after activating the camera are eligible. Accounts registered before device activation cannot claim the benefit. If you registered an Insta360 app account first and then activated the device, or if you are already logged into an existing account when activating a new eligible camera, you cannot claim the benefit.
  • Users who registered the Insta360 app account via third-party accounts (e.g., Apple ID) are not eligible for this benefit.
  • Starting from January 21, 2025, X3, X4, and X5 cameras are no longer eligible for this benefit. Instead, you are eligible for a free trial of Insta360+ cloud service. For details, please refer to Insta360+: Exclusive Limited-Time Offer for 360 Cameras.
  • If none of the above situations apply and you still cannot claim the benefit, we recommend you update the Insta360 app to the latest version and try again.

FAQ

1. Can older versions of Insta360 app trigger the prompt for claiming this extended warranty benefit?

No. You need to update the Insta360 app to v1.11.0 or later to register for extended warranty.

2. I have already registered an Insta360 app account and purchased a new eligible camera. Can each camera receive the extended warranty?

This benefit is only available to new users who have never registered an Insta360 app account before. Existing accounts cannot obtain an additional extended warranty for new cameras.

3. Can one camera receive this extended warranty benefit multiple times through different accounts?

No. This extended warranty benefit is uniquely bound to the camera's serial number. The Insta360 app will automatically recognize the serial number. If this benefit has already been claimed for the camera, the registration process cannot be triggered again.

4. I didn't register an Insta360 app account during activation of my camera. Can I claim the extended warranty benefit later?

Yes. If you tapped "Register Later" initially, as long as the camera is still under warranty and the Insta360 app has recorded the camera's serial number, you can still claim the extended warranty benefit when you register the Insta360 app account.

Please note: Reinstalling the Insta360 app may clear the recorded serial number, potentially preventing later claims. It is recommended to register the Insta360 app account soon after activation.

5. Can I still purchase the one-year extended warranty from Insta360 Store or the Insta360 Care service after claiming this extended warranty benefit?

Yes. This extended warranty benefit can be used together with the paid one-year extended warranty from Insta360 Store and the Insta360 Care service, further extending the total warranty period. The warranty period start date is calculated based on the "service bound first":

  • If you claimed this extended warranty benefit first: The start date is the camera's activation date.
  • If you bound the extended warranty purchased from Insta360 Store first: The start date is the binding date of the purchased extended warranty.

6. Are there regional restrictions for claiming this extended warranty benefit?

No.

7. Can I claim this extended warranty benefit if I have registered an Insta360 app account before activating my camera?

If you have registered an Insta360 app account before activating your camera, you are not eligible to claim this benefit.

8. Can I claim this extended warranty benefit if I registered the Insta360 app account via a third-party account (Apple ID, etc.)?

Currently, users registered through third-party platforms are not eligible for this benefit. Please register an Insta360 app account using an email address.
