How to connect a camera to the Insta360 app for live streaming

X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, ONE R, and ONE RS

Supported streaming modes: 360° Live, 360° Reframe Live

1. Open the Insta360 app, connect your camera, tap the "Camera" icon at the bottom to enter the shooting preview page, then tap "360°" at the top to switch to the 360 mode.

• 360 cameras do not support live streaming in the Single-Lens Mode.

1. Tap the "≡" icon in the bottom right corner > select "Live" or "Reframe Live" > select your desired live streaming platform.

1. Tap "Not Bound" to authorize.

• If the streaming platform's app is installed, you will be redirected to that platform for authorization.
• If the app is not installed, please download it and complete the authorization process.

4. After completing account authorization, tap "Start live stream" to return to the recording page. You can start the live stream by pressing the camera's shutter button or the on-screen button. During the process, please keep the Insta360 app running in the foreground. To stop the live stream, press the shutter button again.

ONE X

Supported streaming modes: 360° Live, 360° Reframe Live

1. Connect ONE X to your phone using the officially supplied USB cable.
2. Open the Insta360 ONE X app > tap the "Shoot" button to enter the Shooting page.
3. Choose the third mode "360° Live", tap the "Facebook" icon to choose your desired live streaming platform: Facebook, YouTube, or RTMP streaming.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your social media account, and authorize the ONE X app to start live streaming.
5. After authorizing, add descriptions for your streaming and tap Confirm to go back to the live streaming page.
6. Tap Settings in the bottom right corner to configure settings such as bitrate.
7. Tap the "LIVE" button to start streaming.

Please note:

• The Insta360 ONE X also supports Animation Live (allowing for streaming with unique FOV such as Tiny Planet). Open the ONE X app > tap the "Shoot" button > select the fourth mode, Animation Live, on the Shooting page > choose your desired live streaming platform to start streaming.
• The Insta360 ONE X does not support wireless live streaming; it only supports streaming via the ONE X app when connected to a phone using the officially supplied adapter cable.

I. Live Streaming Modes and Usage Restrictions

1. What is the difference between "Live" and "Reframe Live" in the Insta360 app? Can viewers choose their own perspectives?

• Live: If the streaming platform supports 360° Live, viewers can freely drag the picture during the streaming to choose their viewing perspective in 360°.
• Reframe Live: In this mode, only the host can adjust the perspective; viewers cannot adjust the picture themselves.

Please note: Both streaming modes require using the 360° mode for shooting.

1. Which platforms do 360 cameras support for live streaming?

Currently, the Insta360 app supports live streaming in Facebook, YouTube, and other streaming platforms. You can also switch the shooting mode to "Live" or "Reframe Live" on the Shooting page in the Insta360 app to view and select available streaming platforms. For specific supported platforms, please refer to the actual display within the Insta360 app.

1. Do X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2 require a memory card for live streaming?

No.

1. Do the 360 cameras support HDMI output for live streaming?

No.

1. Do 360 cameras support switching Facebook accounts for live streaming?

Yes. You can switch accounts within Facebook, then return to the Insta360 app to authorize the new account. Alternatively, you can log out of Facebook account first, then enter the Insta360 app to authorize a new account for live streaming.

1. Can I see real-time comments in the live stream room when using a 360 camera for live streaming?

Currently, live streams intiated with 360 cameras through the Insta360 app do not support viewing real-time comments. You can use another device to enter the live stream room to view real-time comments normally.

II. Live Streaming Video Quality and Audio

1. Can I edit the image / adjust parameters after starting the streaming?

No. If you need to adjust streaming parameters, you must first stop the current live streaming, then reconfigure the settings and create a new live streaming room.

1. Do the 360 cameras support stabilization during live streaming?

Yes.

Please note:

• X3 and X2 do not support FlowState Stabilization when using the Webcam feature.
• ONE X supports Standard Stabilization, but does not support FlowState Stabilization.

1. Do the 360 cameras support facial tracking during live streaming?

No.

1. What aspect ratios/formats are supported for 360° live streaming?

For 360° Live, the stream outputs a 2:1 360° picture. The final playback aspect ratio depends on the viewer's player.

1. If I connect a compatible external microphone during live streaming with my camera, how is the audio captured?

During wireless streaming, audio can be captured using compatible external microphones (including those connected via an adapter or AirPods).

III. Charging and Battery Life

1. Is there a time limit for live streaming?

There is no time limit for streaming on X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2. As long as the battery is sufficiently charged and the camera does not stop running due to overheating protection, you can continue live streaming.

1. Can the 360 cameras be charged while streaming when connected to the Insta360 app via wireless connection?

Yes. You can charge your camera while streaming wirelessly. However, please monitor the ambient temperature to prevent the camera from overheating.

IV. Data Usage

1. Can I use Wi-Fi for live streaming? How is the data usage calculated?

• For Android phones: Streaming via Wi-Fi is available when the camera is connected to the Insta360 app via wired connection and works in the Android Mode.
• For iPhone: As connecting the camera to the Insta360 app occupies the Wi-Fi connection (only wireless connection is supported), you can only use the mobile data network for streaming.

The data usage during live streaming is determined by the stream quality, and the calculation formula is: Data (MB) = Bitrate (Mbps) × Time (s) ÷ 8.
