FAQ

1. Can third-party photo paper of the same size be used when the included photo paper runs out?

No, this is not recommended. Third-party photo paper may not be fully compatible with the printer in terms of thickness, material, etc., which can easily lead to paper jams, color distortion, or uneven printing. Additionally, if your device malfunctions due to the use of third-party consumables, you will not be eligible for official after-sales service in accordance with our After-Sales Service Policy To ensure printing quality and optimal user experience, you can go to Insta360 Store to purchase dedicated photo paper.

Please note: The separately purchased photo paper kit includes 2× ribbons and 20 sheets of photo paper.

2. Will creases in the ribbon of photo paper affect the printing quality?

Yes. If the ribbon has creases or fingerprints, it will cause issues such as streaks or uneven color on printed photos. Therefore, please avoid touching the ribbon.

3. Can Pocket Printer print Live photos taken by the camera?

Yes, it can. After you select the media, the printer will print the static preview frame of the Live photo when it is not playing.

4. When the camera discovers multiple printers, how can I identify the correct one?

You can confirm via the printer's Bluetooth ID:

  • In the camera's Bluetooth search list, each printer will display a unique ID.

insta360

  • This ID corresponds to the last four digits of the MAC code located inside the paper compartment cover on the back of the printer.

5. How long does the printer need to be charged to resume use when the screen shows "Low printer battery"?

Please use a 5V/2A charger and charge the device for at least 15 minutes before attempting to use it.

6. Does the printer support printing photos via the Insta360 app?

The current version of the Insta360 app only supports connecting to the printer for firmware updates. Direct photo printing from the Insta360 app is not available at this time — please stay tuned for future version updates.

Steps for firmware update via the Insta360 app:

a. Update your Insta360 app to v2.13.0 or later.

b. Turn on the Pocket Printer, then tap "Me" > "Pocket Printer" in the Insta360 app to connect.

c. Tap the Pocket Printer's "Firmware Version" to check for available updates.

7. Why does the interval between printing a single photo or phased coloring and paper ejection lengthen during continuous printing?

When the printer detects an increase in internal temperature, it will automatically extend the printing time to prevent overheating from affecting image quality. Typically, printing a single photo takes approximately 70–90 seconds, which falls within the normal range.

8. Why is the printed photo not as clear as the preview file or the final image viewed on a computer?

Due to photo paper size limitations, photo files are compressed to a certain extent after being transmitted to the printer, so the final print may differ slightly from the on-screen preview.

9. How to verify if the purchased photo paper is genuine?

You can insert the purchased photo paper cartridge into the printer, turn on the printer, and connect it to the camera to check for any error messages.

10. Can Pocket Printer be mounted on the grip from the Xplorer Grip Kit?

No, it can not. It can only be mounted when it is used with the Xplorer Grip Pro Kit.

11. Can the camera connect to photo printers from other brands (e.g., Xiaomi)?

No, it can not.

12. How many photos can one pack of color printing paper print?

10 photos can be printed with one pack of color printing paper. A replacement reminder will appear when the printing paper and ribbon run out.

13. How long can the photos printed by Pocket Printer be preserved, and what kind of storage environment is required?

Pocket Printer uses dye-sublimation technology, and the printed photos can be preserved for 50 to 100 years. To ensure optimal preservation, please store the photos in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
