X Series: Camera Lags or Responds Slowly After Stopping Recording in Starlapse Mode
Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, and X5
Description
- Lagging may occur during shooting with the standalone camera, preview, or in-camera media playback.
- When shooting in the Timelapse or Starlapse Mode, the camera may show no response or slow reaction after the Stop Recording button is pressed.
Solution
Scenario 1: Lagging may occur during shooting with the standalone camera, preview, or in-camera media playback.
- Please ensure your camera firmware is updated to the latest version.
Please refer to: X Series: Check and Update Firmware Version
- Recording lagging may be caused by using an incompatible SD card. We recommend using an SD card that features UHS-I, V30 or higher speed class.
- Restore the camera to factory settings: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > "Factory Reset" > "Confirm".
- If the camera lags with severe overheating, power it off to cool down for a while before retrying. It is recommended to shoot in a well-ventilated environment and avoid direct sunlight exposure.
Please note:
- For solutions on lagging when playing back media in Insta360 Studio, please refer to: Insta360 Studio: Lag
- For lagging when playing back media in the Insta360 app (v2.0.0 or later), it's recommended to switch to the Proxy Mode: open the player > tap "Settings" in the upper left corner > set the preview mode to "Proxy Mode".
Scenario 2: When shooting in the Timelapse or Starlapse Mode, the camera may show no response or slow reaction after the Stop Recording button is pressed.
After stopping recording in the Timelapse or Starlapse Mode, the camera will compress, encode and synthesize all static photos into a complete video. This process requires a certain amount of time and it is normal.
You can check the status circle in the upper left corner of the screen after pressing the Stop Recording button. The video processing is completed once the loading finishes. Please keep the camera powered on and wait patiently for the process to end during this period.
