X Series: Automatic Powering Off/On During Use
Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, and X5
Scenario 1: Automatic restart / powering off or on (For X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, X2, and ONE X)
Description
The camera automatically restarts or powers off/on during use without any manual operation.
Solution
If your camera frequently experiences automatic restarts or powering off/on, we recommend you apply for Insta360 Repair Service for professional diagnostics.
Scenario 2: Automatic powering on and recording while charging (Only for X5 and X4)
Description
The camera automatically powers on or starts recording during charging.
Reason
- If you have selected "Charge and power on" under "Power-off Charging", the camera will power on as soon as it is connected to a power source.
- If you have selected "Charge and record" under "Power-off Charging", the camera will start recording as soon as it is connected to a power source.
- When the camera is in the Dashcam Mode and "Start Recording" is selected under "Power-off Charging", it will start recording upon connection to a power source.
- Using a high-power fast-charging cable may trigger the camera to start recording automatically.
Solution
- Change the "Charge and record" setting: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Power-off Charging" > select "Charge only".

- Change the "Dashcam Mode" settings: In the Dashcam Mode, swipe up from the bottom of the camera screen to access the Shooting Specifications page, tap "Power-off Charging" > select "Charge only".
- Check the charging cable specification: If you are using a high-power charging cable, it is recommended to switch to a standard USB-A to Type-C cable or the official USB cable for charging.
Scenario 3: Automatic starting recording/shooting (for X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and ONE X)
Description
The camera automatically starts taking photos or recording videos without the shutter button being pressed.
Reason
The camera may have Gesture Control or Timed Capture features enabled, or you have set the camera to the Interval Mode.
Solution
X5, X4 Air, and X4
- If the Gesture Control feature is enabled on your camera, please disable it first and check if the issue is resolved.

- If the Timed Capture feature is enabled on your camera, please disable it first and check if the issue is resolved.
To disable the feature: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, find and disable "Timed Capture".
X3, X2, and ONE X
If the current shooting mode is "Interval", please switch to "Photo" or "Video" for shooting and check if the issue is resolved.
Scenario 4: Automatic powering off after inactivity (for X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, X2, and ONE X)
Description
The camera automatically powers off after a period of inactivity.
Reason
The camera may have the Auto Power Off feature enabled.
Solution
If the Auto Power Off feature is enabled on your camera, please disable it first and check if the issue is resolved.
