Please note: Always pay attention to the following when using Gesture Control:

  • Maintain a proper distance: Keep a distance of 0.4-1.6 meters from the camera. Leaning closer to the camera will not increase the gesture recognition sensitivity.
  • Keep your face unobstructed: Ensure your face is fully visible in the frame. We recommend you keep your face and gestures visible on the camera screen and look at the camera to ensure that the gesture can be detected properly.
  • Multi-person recognition: When multiple persons make gestures, the camera prioritizes the person holding a selfie stick, then the person whose face fills the largest area in the frame.
  • Gesture recognition duration: Hold the gesture near your ear for 1-2 seconds.
  • Camera orientation: Gesture recognition is possible from all angles except the middle position between the two lenses (the seam of the camera's middle frame).

X5: Photo, Video, PureVideo, TimeShift, Loop Recording, Dashcam, Burst Photo, and FreeFrame Video.

X4 Air: Photo, Video, TimeShift, Loop Recording, Dashcam, Burst Photo, and FreeFrame Video.

X4: Photo, Video, TimeShift, Loop Recording, Dashcam, Burst Photo, and FreeFrame Video.

Please note:

  • This feature is not supported in the Endurance Mode on X5.
  • In the 360 Video Mode at 8K@30/25/24fps, 4K@50fps, or 4K@48fps, Gesture Control will be unavailable if the 360 Audio feature is enabled on X4 Air.

2. Is it necessary for the entire face to be visible for gesture control?

To maximize the recognition accuracy, it is recommended that both your face and gesture are visible in the frame.

  • Wearing a helmet/gloves: The gesture recognition algorithm has been trained to work normally with helmets and gloves.
  • Face partially obscured or wearing a mask: Recognition is possible, but accuracy is lower compared to an unobstructed face.

3. Can I use Gesture Control underwater?

Yes, Gesture Control works underwater, but the success rate may be affected by complex underwater light and environmental conditions.

4. Why is there still a countdown when using Gesture Control, even after disabling the countdown feature on the camera?

This is a special design for the Gesture Control feature. Without the countdown, your hand gesture may be captured in the final photo or video. Therefore, we have retained the countdown to ensure you have sufficient time to remove your hand from the frame and avoid affecting the final shooting results.

5. Can I use Gesture Control when the screen is off?

Gesture Control is available in the following three scenarios:

  • During video recording, gestures can be recognized whether the screen is on or off.
  • When not recording, gestures can be recognized if the screen is on and the camera is in the preview mode.
  • When not recording and the screen is off (standby mode):
    • Gestures can be recognized within the first 60 seconds after the screen turns off.
    • Gestures cannot be recognized after 60 seconds.

6. Why doesn't X4 Air support Gesture Control when connected to the GPS Preview Remote?

360:

  • Video/Loop Recording/Dashcam: 8K@30/25/24fps, 6K@50/48/30/25/24fps, and 4K@50fps/48fps
