FAQ
1. Which storage location does the camera use by default: internal storage or SD card?
- When no SD card is inserted, the device defaults to saving media in the internal storage.
- When an SD card is inserted, the camera will prompt you with "Switch to SD Card Storage?". You can select "Confirm" or "Cancel" as needed.
- After removing the SD card, the storage path automatically switches back to internal storage.
- When either the internal storage or SD card becomes full, the camera will prompt you to switch storage locations. You can also manually tap "Internal Storage" / "SD Card" on the storage page to switch.
2. How many drives appear when connecting the camera to a computer with an SD card inserted? / Why does the drive name for X6's SD card appear as another camera model?
When an SD card is inserted and the camera is connected to a computer in the File Transfer mode, the computer will display two drives: one for the internal storage and one for the SD card.
Please note: If the SD card has been used in another Insta360 camera before, the drive name may retain the previous device's naming. You can right‑click the drive on your computer and manually rename it.
3. Can I transfer files from the internal storage to the SD card, or from the SD card to the internal storage, directly on the camera?
Media cannot be transferred directly on the camera; it must be done using a computer:
- Transferring files from internal storage to SD card: Copy the photo and video files from the internal storage to a computer, then copy them to the SD card.
- Transferring files from SD card to internal storage: Copy the photo and video files from the SD card to a computer, then copy them to the internal storage.
