X Series: XMP Data

Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, and X6

Capturing 360 photos with the camera can generate files containing XMP data, allowing editing software to recognize the standard 2:1 equirectangular 360 photos and helping you work more efficiently in post-production. This article describes how to export media with XMP data and provides related instructions.

How to export 360 photos that contain XMP data

If In-camera Stitching is enabled

After shooting, the camera generates a JPG photo. This JPG file comes with embedded XMP data, which includes the equirectangular metadata field.

Please refer to: X Series: In-camera/External Stitching

If In-camera Stitching is disabled

After shooting, the camera generates an INSP file. This file itself does not contain XMP data.

You can import the INSP 360 photo into the Insta360 app or Insta360 Studio for editing and export. The exported JPG file will contain XMP data and include the equirectangular field.

Please note: The equirectangular field in the file is used to mark the photo as a 2:1 equirectangular 360 photo.
