X Series: Camera Automatically Stops Recording

X Series: Camera Automatically Stops Recording

Applicable Models: X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, and X5

Scenario 1: The camera stops recording unexpectedly

1. Check if overheating protection is triggered

If an overheating protection alert appears on the camera:

Please refer to: X Series: Camera Stops Recording due to Heating or Overheating

2. Check if it's due to insufficient card speed (for X4, X4 Air, and X5 only)

If you are using an X4, X4 Air, or X5 camera and receive a message indicating insufficient card speed:

Please refer to: X Series: Insufficient Card Speed

3. Check the camera firmware version

If the issue persists, please update the camera firmware to the latest version.

Please refer to: X Series: Firmware Update

4. Check feature settings

If you have enabled the Voice Control or Gesture Control feature, please disable it and check if the issue is resolved.

Please refer to: X Series: Voice Control and X Series: Gesture Control

5. Perform a factory reset

If the issue persists, try performing a factory reset on the camera.

Please refer to: X Series: Factory Reset

Please note:

  • X2 does not currently support factory reset
  • A factory reset will restore camera settings to default but will not delete files on the SD card.

If none of the above solutions resolves your issue, please contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.

Scenario 2: The camera frequently starts and stops recording, or an X5 camera automatically stops recording and beeps

Please check the camera's USB port to ensure there is no dust or debris that might cause the camera to incorrectly detect a connected external device.

If none of the above solutions resolves your issue, we recommend you apply for Insta360 Repair Service for professional diagnostics.

Scenario 3: The camera reports an audio data error (applies only to the X5 and X4 Air)

Description

The camera displays the message, "Stop recording: Audio data anomaly, please check the currently connected audio device."

Reason
  • X5: An "audio data error" may occur in InstaFrame Mode; this issue has been resolved in firmware v1.0.10.
  • X4 Air: An "audio data error" may occur in low-temperature environments; this issue has been resolved in firmware v1.2.2.
Solution

Update your camera's firmware to the latest version to check if the issue is resolved.

Please refer to: X Series: Check and Update Firmware Version

Scenario 4: The camera frequently stops recording unexpectedly (for ONE X only)

Description

During recording, the camera frequently stops recording after a few minutes or over ten minutes (whether powered off or not), but the camera does not freeze.

Reason

This may be because you are using a memory card that does not meet the requirements or is formatted incorrectly.

Solution
  1. Check the memory card specifications

Please ensure that you are using a Micro SD card with a speed class of UHS-I, V30, or higher and formatted as exFAT. Please refer to the table below for memory cards known to be well compatible with ONE X:
