X Series: Lens Flare, White Spots, or White Streaks in Images

Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, and X5

Description

  • When shooting directly towards a light source, lens flare, or white spots or streaks of light may appear in the image. This phenomenon may be more noticeable if the lens surface is dirty, or when shooting in scenes with intense lighting or high contrast between bright and dark areas.
  • Lens flare may also occur when there are partial obstructions (e.g., trees, nylon fabric) between the light source and the lens that cannot completely block the light.

Solution

1. Clean the lens and Lens Guard

It is recommended to carefully wipe the lens and the inner and outer surfaces of the Lens Guard with a soft cloth before shooting to ensure no dirt, fingerprints, or other residues remain on them.

2. Adjust the shooting angle to avoid direct strong light

As an inherent physical property of spherical lenses, lens flare is a normal optical phenomenon that may occur when shooting directly towards intense light sources (like the sun or bright lights) at certain angles. For better image quality, it is recommended to adjust the camera angle during shooting to avoid pointing the lens directly at intense light sources.
