FAQ
1. What is the difference between PureVideo and Video?
The core difference lies in their optimization for different lighting conditions:
- Environmental adaptation: The PureVideo Mode is specifically optimized with algorithms for low-light conditions (e.g., night scenes, dimly lit interiors), capturing more details. However, in bright environments like daytime with natural light or strong artificial light, using the Video Mode is recommended, as it adapts well to most common lighting scenarios — whether capturing outdoor scenery on a sunny day or recording in normally lit indoor spaces — delivering more stable and refined image quality.
- Supported frame rates: The PureVideo Mode prioritizes low-light image quality. Therefore, it offers a relatively narrower range of frame rate options, suiting shoots that prioritize static night scene quality. The Video Mode provides a wider range of frame rates, catering to various dynamic shooting needs, such as capturing motion or fast-changing scenes.
- Dynamic range: The PureVideo Mode is better suited for balancing shadow details in low light. When the Video Mode is used with the Active HDR feature enabled, it handles high-contrast scenes more effectively, preventing overexposed highlights while retaining detail in shadows, resulting in more distinct color gradation.
- Zoom method: The PureVideo Mode only supports digital zoom, suitable for minor adjustments to composition. The Video Mode offers more comprehensive zoom functionality, allowing for more flexible zooming as needed to suit various shooting perspectives.
2. Can I manually adjust the shutter speed in the PureVideo Mode?
No.
