FAQ

1. Can X6, X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2 cameras be used directly underwater? Can they be used without a Dive Case or with a Lens Guard? Can I shoot underwater without using a Dive Case?

Although these models are water-resistant without a Dive Case, water refraction can affect lens focus and stitching quality. For optimal shots, we recommend using the Insta360 Dive Case (with anti-fog inserts).

Please note: The Lens Guard cannot be used simultaneously with a Dive Case.

2. What precautions should be taken when using the X6, X5, X4 Air, X4, X3, and X2 underwater without a Dive Case?
  • Before use: Carefully check the camera's battery cover, rubber seal, and USB cover seal to ensure they are free from damage, sand, dust, or other foreign objects. Also, ensure the battery cover and USB cover are securely closed with no orange marking visible. If necessary, clean them with a lint-free cloth.
  • After use: After shooting, rinse the camera surface with clean water and soak it in fresh water for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, wipe it dry with a soft cloth and leave it in a well-ventilated area to air dry. Do not remove the battery or perform any other operations until the camera surface is completely dry.

Please note: ONE X is not waterproof without a Dive Case and cannot be used directly underwater. For underwater shooting, we recommend using the Insta360 Dive Case.

3. Can the camera buttons be used underwater without a Dive Case? How do I control the camera when shooting underwater? Will pressing the buttons affect water resistance?

To avoid accidental screen touches caused by water flow when using the camera underwater, you can control shooting as follows:

  • X6, X5, X4 Air, X4, and X3: Enable the Dive Case Mode, then use the Power button to switch modes and the Shutter button for shooting.
  • X2: Enable the Screen Lock feature, then use the Power button to switch modes and the Shutter button for shooting.

Please note: When the camera is properly sealed, pressing the buttons within the rated depth will not affect its waterproof performance (up to 65.6ft (20m) for X6, 49.2ft (15m) for X5/X4 Air, and 32.8ft (10m) for X4/X3/X2).
