Heat Dissipation

Q1 How is X4's heat dissipation?

X4 offers improved heat dissipation due to our extensive investment in research and development. Still, action cams, like other electronic devices, will generate heat during use because of the compact size and complex electronic systems present. For maximum heat dissipation, we recommend using X4 in a well-ventilated area or while on the move. For prolonged shooting in 8K, consider trying out the Thermo Grip Cover.

Q2 Is it possible to put the camera in water to reduce its heat?

Not recommended. Although the camera is waterproof, leaving it in water may result in rapid temperature changes, increasing the risk of the camera exposed to moisture. It is recommended that you remove the battery and allow the camera to cool down in a naturally ventilated environment. If the camera becomes very hot and you urgently need to cool it down physically, we recommend turning the camera off and letting it stay at a certain distance next to the air vents of an air conditioner, which can help the camera cool down quickly. However, please note not to let the camera get too close to the air vents of the air conditioner as this may cause damage.

Q3 If X4 triggers overheating protection, will the content that is being recorded be saved?

Yes, the camera will automatically save the content that is being recorded.

Q4 Why is my Insta360 X4 overheating and how can I improve the battery life?

It is very normal for electronic devices to heat up during use due to power consumption. While Insta360 X4 does heat up, it features industry-leading heat dissipation capabilities and is equipped with overheating protection to protect the camera.

  1. Why is my Insta360 overheating?

    • High Specifications: Filming at higher specifications, such as 8K30fps, requires more computing power, and it is normal for the camera to heat up.
    • High-Temperature Environments: Using the camera in hot conditions increases the likelihood of overheating.
    • High-Power Features: Features such as AI Highlights Assistant and HDR require a lot of computing power which in turn causes the camera to heat up.
  2. How can I stop my Insta360 X4 from overheating and draining the battery?

    • Use the Thermo Grip Cover:: The Thermo Grip Cover is a standard in-the-box accessory for Insta360 X4. It Reduces the surface temperature of X4 and makes it more comfortable to hold.
    • Adjust Shooting Mode: If you're using high specifications such as 8K or 60fps, lower the shooting mode to 5.7K30fps where suitable.
  3. How to extend the battery life?

    • Adjust Shooting Mode: Use lower resolutions or frame rates, such as 4K, to extend battery life.
    • Spare Batteries: For extended use, carry an additional battery or use the Portable Charging Case to charge on the go.
