X Series: Buttons are Unresponsive or Hard to Press

X Series: Buttons are Unresponsive or Hard to Press

Applicable Models: X3, X4, X4 Air, and X5

If the camera buttons are malfunctioning, please first check if the camera firmware is updated to the latest version. If not, test the buttons again after updating to see if they function normally. If the issue persists, please troubleshoot according to the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: Feels that buttons become "stiffer" or "harder to press" in cold environments

Description

Buttons require more force to press in cold environments (e.g., skiing or an outdoor environment in winter).

Solution

This is normal. The camera uses a special waterproof dampening material that becomes slightly stiffer at low temperatures. Buttons will feel normal again once you are out of the cold environment, and this will not affect the camera's functionality or performance. For a better button feel, it is recommended to press on the icon location or at a slight downward angle on the camera.

Scenario 2: The Shutter/Record button is unresponsive

Solution

Try pressing the button briefly. When not recording, the press duration should be less than 1 second. When recording, the press duration should be less than 0.3 seconds.

Scenario 3: Q/Menu button on X4/X5 is unresponsive when the camera is powered off

Solution

Please check the settings as follows:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > select "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Customize Button".
  2. Confirm that the feature assigned to this button is "Photo/Video".
  3. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen, tap the "Rocket" icon in the lower left corner, and ensure the "QuickCapture" feature is enabled.
  4. After completing the above settings, you can quickly start shooting using the button while the camera is powered off.
