Q10 What is the difference between the new 360 Active HDR and traditional HDR?

360 Active HDR is designed for recording in action scenes. Compared to the traditional HDR, 360 Active HDR provides superb stabilization while retaining details in highlights and shadows, and can be used in everyday action scenes.

Q11 How does X3 stabilization perform?

Insta360 X3’s six-axis gyroscope and industry-leading FlowState stabilization ensure stable footage, even during action sports. Where other action cams tap out at 45°, 360° Horizon Lock keeps the horizon level even when you completely rotate the camera.

Q12 What is the difference between standard FOV and FOV+ modes?

Default FOV should be used for up to 4K resolution with default field of views and in-camera stabilization. FOV+ should be used for widest field of views. Apply FlowState Stabilization and 360 Horizon Lock and adjust aspect ratio in Insta360 app or Studio. MaxView provides a super wide and immersive 170° FOV.
Compared to ONE X2, Basic Mode is renamed to Default FOV and Post Mode is renamed to FOV+.

Q13 What is Pre-recording? When should I use it?

Pre-recording lets you capture 15 or 30 seconds of footage before you've even hit the Shutter Button, so you won't miss a second of action. It saves time searching through clips and precious storage space, as the pre-recorded footage will be combined and saved with the normal recording.
Pre-recording is designed for when you know you want to record something, but you're not sure when it will happen, such as fishing (for when you finally catch a fish!), scoring a goal in soccer, or catching a big wave when surfing.

Q14 How do I enable Pre-recording?

Pre-recording is only supported in Video Mode. Once in Video Mode, swipe down on the camera screen to enter the Shortcut Menu. Tap the 'PRE' icon and choose either 15 or 30 seconds. Then, tap "Pre-recording start" to turn it on. Pre-recording supports 360º and flat videos recorded with Single-Lens Mode.
Once enabled, the camera will continuously capture and record audio and video, but will only save the last 15 or 30 seconds to the microSD card once you hit the Shutter Button. For example, if you set Pre-recording to 15 seconds, but there have been 30 seconds of action before you press the Shutter Button, the final pre-recorded footage will be the last 15 seconds.

Q15 How does the Pre-recording function work? How does it get recorded?

You can select 15 or 30 seconds of pre-recording. After activating Pre-recording, the camera continuously records audio and video, but only saves the last 15 or 30 seconds to the microSD card once you hit the shutter button. This feature ensures you won't miss a moment of action that you want to capture, while also saving valuable micro-SD card space. Only one video file will be saved in the end as it combines the pre-recorded footage with your normal recording.

Q16 Can the Pre-recording duration be changed?

X3 only supports pre-recording for 15 seconds or 30 seconds and the duration cannot be changed currently.

Q17 Do both Single-lens mode and 360 mode support Pre-recording function?

Yes, both are supported.
