Insta360 Studio: Error Importing Media Files

Insta360 Studio: Error Importing Media Files

Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, Ace, Ace Pro, Ace Pro 2, GO 3, GO 3S, GO Ultra, ONE R, and ONE RS

Scenario 1: An error message stating "2 imports failed: Unknown error (2)" appears

Reason

Insta360 Studio cannot recognize or parse the file content due to a changed file extension or file corruption, resulting in import failure.

Solution
  1. Check the file extension and re-import the file

The correct file extensions for different types of media are as follows. Please check if the file extension is correct. If not, you can change the extension and re-import the file.

  • 360 videos: .insv for the master file, and .lrv for the proxy file
  • Wide-angle videos: .mp4
  • 360/wide-angle photos: .insp

  1. Try repairing the file

If the file extension is correct and your media is an .insv or .mp4 video shot with an Insta360 camera, you can try downloading and using the Insta360 File Repair tool to repair the file.

Please refer to: Insta360 File Repair Help Documentation

Scenario 2: An error message stating "Import failed: No master file corresponding to LRV file was found" appears

Reason

This error occurs because only the proxy file (.lrv) is imported for a 360 video, and the master file is missing.

Solution

The .lrv file is a low-resolution preview file used for quick browsing, AI recognition, scene analysis, etc.; it cannot be used for editing alone. Please locate the complete 360 video files, which must include both the master file (.insv) and the proxy file (.lrv), and import them together into Insta360 Studio.

Scenario 3: An error message stating "Import failed: Video generates two video files, one of which can't be retrieved" appears

Reason

This error occurs because the imported fisheye video is a dual-lens file (i.e., it contains two files: "00" for the front lens and "01" for the rear lens), but the currently imported file is missing one of them (e.g., only the front lens file is imported, and the rear lens file is missing).

Solution

Please locate the complete files. Ensure that you select both the front (00) and rear (01) lens files of the same video, then re-import them into Insta360 Studio.

Scenario 4: An error message stating "Import failed: file is not supported in current offset version" appears

Reason

This error occurs because the version of Insta360 Studio you are currently using is lower than the minimum version required by the media, preventing the software from recognizing media shot with newer cameras.

Solution

Please update your Insta360 Studio to the latest version and try importing the media again.

Please refer to: Insta360 Studio: Download and Installation

Scenario 5: Other import failures

If you encounter an error message not covered by the above scenarios, please try the following steps:

  1. Move the original media files to another drive on your computer (not the current storage drive).
  2. Open Insta360 Studio, click "Menu" at the top bar > go to "Settings" > click "Preferences" > select "File Path Settings", change "Project File Save Path" to another drive, and then re-import.
