With Insta360 Studio, you can efficiently access your media with ease. From media backup on phone to post-production and creation after exporting, all are achievable through simple operations and flexible settings.

How to import media from your computer or cloud into Insta360 Studio?
  1. Import from your computer: Drag and drop local media files directly from drives like C: or D: into Insta360 Studio.
  2. Import from Insta360+ Cloud Storage Service: Log in to your cloud account within Insta360 Studio to view and import all your cloud media.

How to import media from a camera, USB flash drive, or external hard drive into Insta360 Studio?
  1. Check basic settings

Open Insta360 Studio, click "Menu" in the top left corner > "Settings" > "User Preference" > "Other" > "Enable external storage device detection" (this feature is enabled by default).

  1. Connect your camera to computer (Bluetooth or wireless connection for importing media is not supported on Windows PCs)
    • If you are using an X5, X4, GO 3S, GO 3, Ace Pro 2, Ace Pro, or Ace camera: connect it to the computer via a USB cable, and select "U-Disk Mode" on the camera screen.
    • If you are using an X3, X2, or ONE X camera: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > select "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "USB Mode" > select "U-Disk Mode". Then, power on the camera and connect it to the computer via the USB cable.

Please note:

  • If you still cannot connect to the computer using the methods above, or if the camera doesn't show an option to select a mode, try performing a factory reset, then restart both the camera and computer and try again. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Factory Reset" > tap "Confirm".
  • If your computer only has Type-C ports, please use an adapter to convert to a Type-A port before connecting the camera.
  1. Import media

    a. After connecting the camera to the computer, if Insta360 Studio is running, a pop-up window from Insta360 Studio will appear. You can choose "Import all" or manually select files.

    b. If Insta360 Studio is not running, the computer will recognize the connected external device as a drive. You can then manage the media files directly from this drive.

FAQ

1. Can photo groups be imported into the Project page of Insta360 Studio?

Photo groups shot in Interval or Starlapse mode can only be imported on the Media page; they will not be displayed on the Project page.

2. What is the difference between the low-resolution proxy files created on the Project page in Insta360 Studio and .lrv files?

The low-resolution files created on the Project page and .lrv files are essentially the same.

3. Which file formats does Insta360 Studio support? Does it support TIFF format?

The supported file formats are listed below:

  • Supported on both the Media and Project pages: JPG, MP4, MOV, INSV, LRV, and INSP
  • Not supported on the Project page: DNG
  • Not supported on the Media page: MP3 and WAV

TIFF format files are not supported.

4. How to import photo groups shot in HDR, Burst, Night Shot, and Interval modes into Insta360 Studio?
  • Interval and Burst photos: When imported into Insta360 Studio, photos from the same group are automatically grouped together.
  • HDR and Night Shot photos (INSP/DNG formats):
    • HDR photos require importing ≥ 3 photos from the same group at once to be grouped. Night Shot photos require importing ≥ 9 photos from the same group at once to be grouped. Otherwise, they are imported as single photos.
    • DNG photos will only be grouped when the corresponding INSP file is located in the same folder. Otherwise, they are imported as single photos.
    • HDR or Night Shot effect merging can be achieved for DNG photo groups with an additional JPG photo exported.
