Firmware Update
Q1 How do I update the Insta360 Sphere firmware?
Note
Before updating, make sure that Sphere has at least 10% battery remaining.
Update via Insta360 app
- Connect Sphere to your phone via the Insta360 app.
- When you're due an update, the app will give you an update notice, then hit 'Download'.
- After downloading, follow the on-screen instructions to connect to Sphere again and upload the firmware.
- After uploading, Sphere will start updating automatically. The indicator will remain solid blue during the update, and the camera will restart automatically once the update is complete.
- After all updates are complete, connect the camera through the app and go to [Settings] - [About Insta360] - [Firmware Version] to check the firmware version.
Update via microSD card
- Click here to go to the firmware download page, then download the latest firmware to your PC.
- Insert the microSD card into a card reader and connect it to your PC.
- Copy the Insta360IDCFW.bin file to the root directory directly, rather than to a specific folder on Sphere’s microSD card.
Note: please make sure you delete the old firmware bin file (if any) and keep the file name of the newly downloaded firmware unchanged. Otherwise, the system might not be able to identify the new firmware, which will cause issues when updating.
- Insert the microSD card into the Sphere camera (the camera battery indicator must be at least two bars at this time). Press the power button and wait for about 40 seconds. The status indicator will turn from a solid cyan light to a blue light. Once the blue light turns to solid cyan again, the camera upgrade is complete.
- After all updates are complete, connect the camera through the app and go to [Settings] - [About Insta360] - [Firmware Version] to check the firmware version.
