Snap Selfie Screen: Connecting to Phone and Shooting

Applicable Models: Snap Selfie Screen and Snap Selfie Screen with Light

Insta360 Selfie Screen connects to your phone via cable. Slim, lightweight, and portable, it offers plug-and-play functionality with minimal shooting delay—making it easy to capture high-quality selfies and allowing for a comfortable, seamless experience.

How to connect the Selfie Screen to your phone

1. Attach the Selfie Screen
  • If your phone supports MagSafe or has a magnetic case, you can directly attach the selfie screen to the back of your phone or case.
  • If your phone does not support MagSafe and does not have a magnetic case, you may use the included magnetic ring to assist with attaching the selfie screen by following the steps below.
    1. Stick the magnetic ring to the back of the selfie screen, making sure it lies flat, then remove the backing paper from the surface of the magnetic ring.
    2. Stick the magnetic ring together with the selfie screen onto the back of your phone or case, then remove the selfie screen. The magnetic ring is now installed, and you can later attach the selfie screen directly to it.

Please note:

  • It is recommended to stick the magnetic ring to the back of your phone case. The adhesive on the magnetic ring is strong, so avoid sticking it directly to your phone to prevent residue after removal.
  • Do not repeatedly reposition the magnetic ring, as this weakens the adhesive and affects mounting stability.

2. Custom button and Zoom setting
  • Setting a custom button

If your phone supports custom buttons, it is recommended to set your phone's side button to control shooting in advance to make the selfie screen easier to use.

Please note: The way to enable and use the side camera button depends on your phone model. Generally, you can adjust the custom function of the side button through your phone's "Settings" > "Camera" or "Photo".

  • Enabling Zoom

If you are an iPhone user, you need to enable Zoom on your phone first to use the touchscreen of the selfie screen. Go to "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Zoom" and enable it. After zooming, double-tap with three fingers to return to the default view.

Please note: After enabling Zoom, you can open iPhone's native camera while the phone is locked.

4. Connect the Selfie Screen
  1. When using the selfie screen, unfold the protective cover and fold it over the phone screen.

Please note: Do not press or squeeze the bent section of the cable, as this could cause poor connection.

  1. Always unlock your phone first, then connect the selfie screen with the cable. Once connected successfully, the selfie screen will power on automatically and show the startup screen. Once it displays your phone screen, you can start using it.
  2. When connecting an Android phone, a pop-up asking "Cast your screen?" may appear during connection. Tap "Cast" to complete the connection.
  3. After connection, the selfie screen uses the default display ratio. Long press the Mirror Button for 1 second to switch to the full phone screen.

Recommended holding methods:

Method 1: Use the side button of your phone to take photos, and avoid touching the screen with your fingers while holding.

Method 2: Support the protective cover with the thumb web, wrap four fingers fully around the other side of the phone, and control the shutter with your thumb on the screen, keeping fingers away from the screen.

How to control shooting with the selfie screen

Method 1: After powering on the selfie screen, you can shoot directly via the touchscreen, or use your phone's side button to control shooting.

Method 2: If your phone or camera app supports voice or gesture control, you can enable this feature to control shooting.

Please note: For landscape shooting, turn on the rotation lock (disable auto-rotate) on your phone before shooting. If the image is upside down, single-press the Mirror Button on the selfie screen to restore normal display.

Method 3: Use the selfie screen with Insta360 Ring Remote. You can control phone shooting by operating the ring without touching the selfie screen.

Please note: Before use the Ring Remote, make sure the firmware of the remote has been updated to v1.0.0.23 or later.

To update the remote firmware, please refer to: Remote: How to Update Firmware

Method 4: Use Insta360 Mini Remote with your phone’s selfie screen. Simply operate the remote to control shooting on your phone, no need to tap the selfie screen.

Please note: Before use, make sure the firmware of your Mini Remote is updated to v1.0.0.25 or later.

    • Mini Remote: Tap Insta360 Mini Remote to connect.
  3. After a successful connection, the corresponding indicator on will stay on (blue for the Ring Remote and cyan for the Mini Remote). You can then open the camera and control shooting with the remote.
