How to enable reverse charging? (For X6, X5, X4 Air, and X4 only)

Using a Type-C to Type-C cable:
  1. Power on the camera and connect it to your phone using a Type-C to Type-C cable.
  2. On the camera, select "Reverse Charging" in the USB Mode options.
  3. Set the minimum charge for reverse charging, then tap "Charging started" or "Enable".
  4. The camera automatically powers off, the indicator light flashes green, and the reverse charging begins.

Using a Type-C to Lightning cable:
  1. Power on the camera and connect it to your phone using a Type-C to Lightning cable.
  2. The camera will automatically start reverse charging after a successful connection. The reverse charging will stop automatically when the camera's battery level falls below 20%.

Please note: In this case, the camera will not power off automatically, and the indicator light will not flash green.

FAQ

1. Do X Series cameras support shooting while charging?

Yes. However, please note that shooting while charging increases the camera’s power consumption and its temperature may rise rapidly, which can easily trigger the camera’s overheating protection mechanism. We recommend ensuring the camera body is well-ventilated to allow for heat dissipation. If used outdoors in high-temperature environments (such as in direct sunlight), the camera should be monitored for its temperature to avoid overheating, which may cause the camera to stop working.

With battery: 5V/1A or 5V/2A

Without battery: 5V/2A

Please note: When recording video while connected to a power source, the camera prioritizes power supply to maintain the recording process. Certain models, such as X6, will not charge the battery simultaneously. We recommend using an adapter with the recommended power rating to charge your camera, preventing battery drain during the recording process.

2. Do the cameras support Reverse Charging and automatic shooting when powered on (the "Charge and record" feature)?

3. When the camera is connected to an external power source and recording, does it use power from the external source or the internal battery first?

The camera uses the external power source first.

Please note: The internal battery is only used if the charging speed from the external source cannot meet the power demands of the recording/standby mode. In this case, both the external source and the internal battery supply power, consuming the battery's charge.

4. Why is the officially supplied USB cable / charging cable slightly loose when connected to the camera's charging port / USB port?

To ensure smooth insertion and removal of the charging cable, a slight gap is designed between the cable and the USB port, which may cause a slight loose fit. Please be assured this does not affect charging or normal operation of the camera.

5. Will using a fast-charging adapter damage the camera or its battery?

No. Please feel free to use compatible fast-charging adapters.

6. How do I check the charger specifications or the charging protocol of a charger?

You can find information such as the charger's power, voltage, current, and supported charging protocols in the following ways:

  • Look for labels indicating the voltage (V), current (A), maximum power (W Max), charging protocols (PD/PPS/QC), and other specifications on the device itself or its packaging.

insta360

  • Check the user manual for the device, visit the manufacturer’s official website or store, or contact customer service to find detailed specifications and product descriptions.

7. What is the number of battery cycles for X Series cameras? How long is the battery's cycle life? How do I check the number of battery cycles?

Battery lifespan typically depends on factors such as the ambient temperature and how frequently you use the device. Currently, the camera does not support checking the number of battery charge cycles. We recommend using the device regularly to avoid leaving it unused for long periods, as this can effectively extend the battery lifespan. If you won’t be using the device for an extended period, store it in a dry, cool place to prevent damage to the battery caused by extreme temperatures.

8. [For X5 and X4 Air only] Why does the camera still show “Charging” when it is fully charged?

insta360

This is normal; please refer to the battery level indicator on your camera. We also recommend you disconnect your camera from the power source promptly after charging is complete to extend the battery lifespan.
