How to connect Mic Pro to an Insta360 camera (only for X5, X4 Air, Ace Pro 2, and GO Ultra)

Method 1: Connect via the transmitter using Bluetooth
  1. Turn on your camera and enter the pairing mode
  • X5 / X4 Air / Ace Pro 2: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Bluetooth" > "Headset/Microphone". The camera will automatically search for Bluetooth devices.
  • GO Ultra: Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Accessories" > "Add Bluetooth Accessories". The camera will automatically search for Bluetooth devices.
  1. Put the transmitter into the pairing mode

Quickly press the transmitter's power button three times to enter the pairing mode. The function indicator light will flash rapidly.

  1. Complete the connection

When "Insta360 Mic Pro TXxxxxx" appears in the camera's search list, tap it to connect. Upon successful connection, the transmitter's function indicator light becomes solidly lit. The camera screen shows a "Microphone connected" prompt, and the microphone is automatically enabled.

Please note: After successful pairing, the Mic Pro transmitter will automatically connect to the camera the next time both are powered on, without repeating the steps. To unpair them, select the transmitter in the camera's Bluetooth menu to unbind it, or press and hold the transmitter's power button to turn it off.

Method 2: Connect via the receiver
  1. Open the USB cover on the side of the camera.
  2. Attach the USB-C adapter to the Mic Pro receiver, making sure it is correctly inserted into the expansion contacts on the back of the receiver.
  3. Insert the Mic Pro into the camera's USB-C port. The device will be recognized automatically.
  4. Upon successful connection, a microphone icon will appear at the top of the camera screen, and the audio input will automatically switch to the external microphone.

How to connect Mic Pro to a digital camera

Method 1: Connect via a 3.5mm cable

Attach the receiver to the camera's hot shoe or body using the back clip, and connect the receiver to the camera's audio input port using the included 3.5mm TRS cable. This enables wireless audio capture.

Please note: Make sure the 3.5mm cable is fully inserted into the receiver's audio output port (marked with a red ring) and the camera's audio input port (usually marked with a microphone icon). Improper connection will prevent normal audio capture.

  1. Open the folding contacts of the hot-shoe adapter.
  2. Insert the Sony hot-shoe adapter from top to bottom into the contacts on the back of the receiver, ensuring it is firmly seated.
  3. Insert the receiver directly into the Sony camera's MI hot-shoe mounting point and lock it in place.

How to connect Mic Air to an Insta360 camera (only for X5, X4 Air, X4, Ace Pro 2, and GO Ultra)

  1. Turn on the transmitter and switch the mode (Only required when connecting Mic Air 1 TX + 1 RX to a camera for the first time)

Press and hold the transmitter button for 2 seconds to turn it on. When the transmitter is not connected to the device, press the button twice to switch to the Bluetooth Mode. The status indicator light will then change from cyan to blue.

  1. Put the transmitter into the pairing mode

Press and hold the transmitter button for 3 seconds to turn it off, then press and hold the button for 6 seconds to enter the pairing mode. The status indicator light will then flash blue quickly.

  1. Connect the transmitter to your camera

Turn on the camera, swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > find and tap the "Bluetooth" icon > tap "Bluetooth headset/microphone" > select "Insta360 Mic Air" to connect to the transmitter. Once connected successfully, the transmitter's indicator light will stay solid blue, and you can use the transmitter button to control features.

Please note: Once the transmitter and camera are paired and connected, they will automatically connect whenever both devices are turned on subsequently.

  1. Change connection and switch connection modes
  • To connect to a different camera: Turn off the transmitter, then press and hold the transmitter button for 6 seconds to enter the pairing mode. The transmitter's status indicator light will then flash blue quickly. Follow the instructions in Step 3 to connect to the new camera.
  • To switch connection modes: If you need to switch connection modes (e.g., from direct connection to a camera to connection to a receiver), press the transmitter button twice. The transmitter will automatically search for and connect to the corresponding device without needing to pair again.

Please note: Firmware v1.0.0.33 and later for the Mic Air optimize the pairing logic, eliminating the distinction between the Bluetooth Mode (blue indicator light on) and the Transmitter and Receiver Mode (cyan indicator light on). Regardless of whether the indicator light is blue or cyan, the transmitter can connect directly to a camera or pair with a receiver. You can update the firmware of the transmitter and the receiver to the latest versions via the Insta360 app for a more convenient microphone connection experience.
