If you wish to achieve more cinematic media by color grading during post-production, it is recommended to enable the I-Log Mode for shooting. Swipe left from the right edge of the camera screen, tap "Pro" > "Color Mode", and select "I-Log" to enable or disable the I-Log Mode.

1. What bit depth does the I-Log Mode of Luna Series cameras support?

The camera supports 10-bit I-Log with 14 stops of dynamic range, preserving the most complete information of highlights, shadows, and colors and providing ample room for color grading in post-production.

2. Which shooting modes of Luna Series cameras support the I-Log Mode?

I-Log can only be enabled in video modes, and the following features cannot be used with I-Log: Adjust (Color Grading), Beauty, Dolby Vision, and PureVideo.

3. Are there Color Space Transform options for the I-Log Mode of Luna Series cameras in DaVinci Resolve?

Yes. The 10-bit I-Log Mode of Luna Series cameras is natively compatible with DaVinci Resolve. In the Color Space Transform node, you can select "Rec.2020" for "Input Color Space", and the "Insta360 I-Log" option will appear in the "Input Gamma" field.

4. Do Luna Series cameras support importing custom LUTs?

5. Can I apply filters to I‑Log media for direct output?

Yes, I-Log supports applying filters for direct output. The filter effects will be embedded into the media, enhancing the visual texture. However, if you wish to retain the original flat I‑Log media, do not apply any filters.

6. Does I‑Log support real‑time monitoring or previewing of the restored color effect on Luna Series cameras?

7. What is the color space of the I-Log final video? Does it support exporting as Dolby Vision format after color grading?

The color space of the I-Log media is Rec.2020, you can convert I-Log media to a final video in any color space you need in post-production, such as ordinary Rec.709 SDR or Rec.2020 Dolby Vision. If you need to create multiple different versions of the final video, we recommend that you shoot with the I-Log Mode first.

8. What are the native ISO values in I‑Log mode?

The I‑Log Mode only has a single native ISO value of 400.

9. Why does the I‑Log media appear less sharp after restoration than the directly output media?

The I‑Log Mode disables sharpening, so the image may appear slightly softer compared to standard mode. This is normal.

10. What are the differences between the six LUT files provided on the Insta360 website?

• LUTs with a "Rec709" suffix: Suitable for converting to standard Rec.709 SDR videos.
• LUTs with an "HLG" suffix: Suitable for converting to HLG HDR videos.
• LUTs with a "St2084" suffix: Suitable for converting to St2084 HDR videos.

Compared to s33, s65 offers higher color accuracy, though the visual difference is minimal. For general color grading, s33 is recommended to save computer processing resources.

11. When using MediaInfo to read a video file, the metadata shows the color information as BT.709 rather than BT.2020. Does this affect the color performance of the media?

No. According to industry standards, the metadata of Log videos is typically tagged as BT.709 by default, which is normal. During post-production editing or playback, simply set the "Input Color Space" to "Rec.2020" (i.e., BT.2020) to accurately restore the color.

12. Why does I-Log media look too dark after applying the official LUT?

I-Log media provides you with greater flexibility for color grading in post-production. While applying the official LUT allows you to quickly restore preset color parameters, it does not guarantee that the result will immediately meet the requirements for every scene. You can manually adjust various parameters based on the actual visual results to achieve your desired cinematic style and color expectations.
