If there is dirt or dust on the Ultra Telephoto Lens or camera lens, immediately clean it with a lens cloth or soft brush. Handle with care during cleaning to prevent sand, dust, and other foreign matter from scratching the lens.
- Avoid dropping the Ultra Telephoto Lens, exposing it to strong impacts, or rubbing it against hard objects, as these may damage it.
- This product is a small item. Keep it out of the reach of children to avoid safety risks such as accidental swallowing and suffocation.
FAQ
1. What magnification does the Ultra Telephoto Lens provide? What is the maximum focal length for shooting? / After attaching the Ultra Telephoto Lens to the camera, what is the maximum zoom level?
The Ultra Telephoto Lens can provide a 1.5x optical magnification. Combined with the 22.5x zoom feature of the camera, it can achieve a focal length of up to 450mm.
2. What scenarios is the Ultra Telephoto Lens suitable for?
The Ultra Telephoto Lens is suitable for specific scenarios involving medium-to-long-distance shooting where the camera position cannot be moved forward:
- Concerts and music festivals: Even from a distance, you can zoom in on the stage subject and capture facial expressions.
- Outdoor wildlife and bird photography: Capture images with a close-up feel without getting close and disturbing the animals.
- Sports event shooting from grandstand: With the 3-axis mechanical gimbal stabilization of the camera, it enables handheld long-distance shooting to produce more stable media.
3. Does the Ultra Telephoto Lens support use with other cameras?
The Ultra Telephoto Lens currently only supports use with Insta360 Luna Ultra. After the Ultra Telephoto Lens is attached, the main lens will be physically blocked and cannot be used normally.
4. Why can't I use 1x to 3x zoom levels after attaching the Ultra Telephoto Lens to Luna Ultra?
The Ultra Telephoto Lens is designed specifically for telephoto shooting. After the Ultra Telephoto Lens is attached, the main lens is physically blocked, and the camera will then support zoom levels from 4.5x to 22.5x only.
5. How to perform a focus calibration?
For better focusing results, after the Ultra Telephoto Lens is properly installed, open "Settings" > tap "Ultra Telephoto Lens Calibration", and go to an open outdoor area with sufficient light to complete the calibration. Before calibration, place the camera vertically and steadily. It is recommended to use a handle or tripod for fixation. Aim the lens at a distant object and avoid pointing it at a white wall or the sky.
6. Can the camera fit into the Protective Cover when the Ultra Telephoto Lens is attached?
Due to the large size of the Ultra Telephoto Lens, when it is attached to Luna Ultra, the camera cannot fit into the Protective Cover. Please remove the Ultra Telephoto Lens before storing the camera.
7. Which shooting modes become unavailable when the Ultra Telephoto Lens is attached?
Focal lengths below 3x in all shooting modes and the 360 Panorama Mode are unavailable. The 200MP Scenic Panorama Mode can be enabled normally, but stitching may not work well after shooting.
8. Does the Ultra Telephoto Lens support use with other external filters stacked on it?
No.
9. What are the recommended shooting methods when using the Ultra Telephoto Lens?
We recommend you refer to the following shooting tips:
- After installing the Ultra Telephoto Lens, confirm that the buckle is securely fastened, and keep the lens clean and free of stains.
- Prioritize shooting on sunny days with sufficient light and clear air.
- Try not to shoot through glass, and avoid backlight, obvious heat waves, and heavy haze scenarios.
- When using a 300mm or 450mm telephoto lens, hold the camera with both hands as much as possible, or find a support to stabilize it.
- When shooting moving subjects, enable the tracking feature and prioritize video recording.
10. Why is there noise in the magnified image after attaching the Ultra Telephoto Lens?
This is mostly caused by insufficient light in the shooting environment. When the ambient light is dim, the camera automatically increases ISO to prevent image shake, which is a normal optical phenomenon.
It is recommended to use the telephoto lens in a well-lit environment as much as possible. If you need to shoot in low-light conditions, swipe left from the right edge of the camera screen to enter the shooting parameter settings page > tap "Adjust" > set "Sharpness" to "Low". Appropriately reducing sharpness can effectively smooth noise in dark areas, making the image look smoother and more refined.
11. When the Ultra Telephoto Lens is attached for magnified shooting, will the image color differ from the camera's direct output?
This exclusive Ultra Telephoto Lens uses high-transmittance optical lens coating, and color reproduction has been professionally calibrated. Under normal use, it will hardly affect the image color. If you perceive color changes in certain scenarios, it is usually because of changes in stage lighting brightness and complex ambient color temperature, causing the camera's auto white balance setting to change.
12. When using the Ultra Telephoto Lens to capture moving objects, will hand shake affect stabilization and cause image blur?
The camera features a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, offering excellent physical stabilization. During normal handheld shooting, it can cancel out most hand shakes. However, all mechanical stabilization has certain physical limitations and cannot completely eliminate large, violent shakes. If there is obvious up-and-down movement of your hand, and the vertical displacement exceeds the gimbal's stabilization limit, image ghosting and out-of-focus issues may occur.
To obtain more stable media at high zoom levels, we recommend the following:
- Enable "Auto Tracking": Frame the moving subject on the camera screen to enable the tracking algorithm. The gimbal will automatically follow the subject, reducing excess shake caused by manually adjusting the camera position.
- Prioritize video recording: When following a fast-moving dynamic subject, the mechanical gimbal transitions more smoothly in video modes, and image stability will be better than still photo capturing.
