Link Series: How to Retrieve Logs
Link Series: How to Retrieve Logs
Applicable Models: Link, Link 2, Link 2C, Link 2 Pro, and Link 2C Pro
When troubleshooting issues with the camera, retrieving logs of Insta360 Link Controller, the virtual camera, or the camera itself can help identify problems more quickly.
How to retrieve logs
Method 1: Retrieve logs via the client
- Connect the camera to Insta360 Link Controller using the included USB cable.
- In the client interface, click the "..." icon in the upper right corner and select "Settings".
- On the page that appears, click "Report Issue", then select either "Retrieve Client Logs" or "Retrieve Device Logs" to export the corresponding logs.
- Retrieve camera logs
- Click "Retrieve Device Logs". The camera will automatically restart and enter the U-Disk Mode.
- Once this happens, the disk of your Link camera pops up on your Windows computer. For Mac computers, you need to manually locate that disk in "Finder," and after entering the disk, find the "LOG" file which is the camera log.
- Retrieve client and virtual camera logs
Click "Retrieve Client Logs". This action exports both the client logs and the virtual camera logs simultaneously.
Windows: The logs are located in the same folder. The virtual_camera folder contains the virtual camera logs, while files named with dates, such as 2024-04-08.log, are client logs.

Mac: These logs are located in two separate folders. The virtual camera logs are located in the "Documents" folder, and the client logs are in another folder named with a date.
Method 2: Retrieve logs via computer system path
If the client cannot be launched, you can manually find the logs at the following paths:
- Windows: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Insta360\Insta360 Link Controller\log
- Mac: /Users/[Your Username]/Library/Application Support/Insta360/Insta360 Link Controller/log
FAQ
How to distinguish among device logs, Link Controller logs, and virtual camera logs for Link series cameras?
- Link series device logs: The camera needs to be placed in U-Disk Mode, and the file format is ".zst".
- Link Controller logs: Logs are saved in the computer's disk. The camera does not need to be set to U-Disk Mode, and the files are named with dates (.log).
- Virtual camera logs: Logs are saved in the computer's disk. The camera does not need to be set to U-Disk Mode, and the files are located in the "virtual_camera" folder.
