How to connect a camera to a phone for remote control

  1. Ensure your computer and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Connect the camera to your computer and open Insta360 Link Controller.
  3. Click the "Remote Control" icon in the upper right corner and a QR code for connection appears.
  4. Use your phone's browser to scan the QR code and establish a connection for remote control.

Please note:

  • Currently, the Link series cameras do not support a direct wired connection to a phone, nor do they support connection to the Insta360 app.
  • It is recommended to use Safari or Chrome to scan the QR code, as some other browsers may fail to recognize it.

How to connect a camera to external devices

    • Wireless devices: Connection via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is not supported
    • Audio interfaces, capture cards, and video switchers
    • Devices without audio monitoring functionality
Connecting external microphones

Link series cameras are equipped with only one Type-C port, which is solely for power supply and cannot directly connect to external microphones. An indirect connection via the computer is required.

  1. Correctly connect the external microphone to the appropriate port on your computer.
  2. Open the software you intend to use (e.g., Insta360 Link Controller, a live streaming platform client, a meeting platform client, etc.).
  3. Navigate to the software's "Audio Settings" or a similar option.
  4. From the audio input device list, select the connected external microphone as the current audio input device.
  5. Once set up, audio input will be achieved through the external microphone.

Please note: To avoid compatibility issues, always use the included USB cable to connect to the computer.

1. Is there any distance limitation when using a phone for remote control of the camera?

There are no specific limitations. Please ensure the phone and computer are connected to the same local area network. The effective control range depends on the coverage of your current Wi-Fi signal.

2. Can the camera be used with an Android tablet or iPad?

Currently, the camera does not support connection to Android tablets.

It can only be used with iPad Pro and iPad Air 4 (iOS 17.0 or later required) specifically in the FaceTime app. Compatibility with third-party apps on iPad is not currently supported.

3. Can one computer connect to multiple Link series cameras simultaneously?​

Yes. As long as the computer has sufficient available ports, you can connect multiple cameras simultaneously.

4. Can I set up multiple camera angles? How to set up multiple camera angles?

Yes, you can set up multiple camera angles, either with a single camera or multiple cameras:

  • Multiple angles with a single camera: Open Insta360 Link Controller, adjust the camera to a desired angle, and save it as a preset. You can switch between these presets during use.
  • Multiple cameras for multiple angles: After connecting multiple cameras to your computer, open third-party software such as OBS. Add the video feed from each camera as separate video sources, and switch between these sources during use.

5. Can the camera be used with a meeting display?

Yes. Provided two key conditions are met simultaneously: The meeting display supports the UVC protocol (to ensure recognition of the device), and can supply stable 5V/1A power to the Link series camera.

6. Can the camera be used with a smart TV?

To use the camera with a smart TV, please confirm whether the TV supports the UVC/UAC protocol first. To avoid connection issues after purchase or setup, it is recommended to verify the supported protocol through the TV's user manual or by contacting the brand's customer support.

7. What is the compatible screen thickness for the camera's clip? Can it be used on curved screens?

Yes, the clip can be use on curved screens. It is recommended that the thickness of the curved screen does not exceed 25mm.
