Link Series: Virtual Camera is Unavailable in Insta360 Link Controller

Link Series: Virtual Camera is Unavailable in Insta360 Link Controller

Applicable Models: Link 2 and Link 2C

Scenario 1: Features including Makeup, Virtual Background, and Filter are unavailable

Description

After clicking features like Makeup, Virtual Background, or Filter in the Link Controller, there is no change in the video preview.

Solution

This issue usually occurs because the computer is not connected to the Internet when these features are first used, preventing the necessary feature data from loading correctly. Please try the following steps to resolve it:

  1. Restart your computer and ensure it is successfully connected to the Internet.
  2. If the features still don't work after restarting and connecting to the Internet, please try to:

    a. Uninstall the Link Controller.

    b. Reinstall the client after uninstallation is complete.

    c. Once the client is installed, restart your computer again and connect to the Internet.

    d. Launch the Link Controller, connect your Link camera, and check if features like Makeup, Virtual Background, and Filter work normally.

Scenario 2: Virtual Camera cannot be used or enabled on Mac

Description

When trying to enable the Virtual Camera on a Mac, a prompt appears stating "System Extension Blocked", and the Virtual Camera feature cannot be used.

Solution

This issue is typically caused by the relevant permissions for the Virtual Camera not being granted in your Mac's system settings. Please try the following steps to resolve it:

1. Check your macOS version. The Virtual Camera feature is not available on macOS 13.0 and earlier versions.

2. If your macOS version meets the requirements, try restarting your Mac and then enabling the Virtual Camera again to see if the issue is resolved.

3. Grant the necessary permissions:

  • For macOS versions prior to 15.0

Go to "System Settings" > select "Allow" under "Privacy & Security" to grant permission for the Virtual Camera feature.

  • For macOS 15.0 and later

Go to "System Settings" > type "Extensions" in the search bar and click to enter > scroll down to find "Camera Extensions" > click the icon to the right of the option to grant permissions for the Link Controller.

Scenario 3: "Missing Graphics API (Vulkan)" error

Description

The Virtual Camera is installed in the Link Controller, but virtual background features like Bokeh cannot be used, and an error message appears, stating "Your computer currently lacks the Vulkan Graphics API needed to support Natural Bokeh, Background Blur and Background Replacement."
