Link Series: Check and Update Firmware Version

Applicable Models: Link, Link 2, Link 2C, Link 2 Pro, and Link 2C Pro

Updating the firmware promptly can unlock new features, fix known issues, and enhance your overall experience. The following instructions outline the operational steps for your reference to check your current firmware version and update to the latest one.

How to check firmware version and Link Controller's version?

  1. Connect the camera to your computer and open Insta360 Link Controller.
  2. Once connected, click the "..." icon in the top control bar.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select "Settings" > click "About Us" to check the camera's firmware version and Insta360 Link Controller's version.

How to update firmware?

Method 1: Via Insta360 Link Controller
  1. Connect the camera and open Insta360 Link Controller. If a firmware update is available, a prompt will appear automatically.
  2. Click the "..." icon in the top control bar > find "More settings" > click "About Us".
  3. If a new firmware version is available, click "Update" to download the firmware file and install the new version.
  4. After the download is complete, click "Update" again, and the camera's indicator light flashes, indicating the update process has begun.
  5. The update process takes approximately 2-3 minutes. During this period, the client may temporarily fail to recognize or detect the camera.
  6. Please ensure a stable connection. The camera will restart automatically once the update is complete.

Method 2: Via U-Disk Mode

For Link

  1. Connect the camera to your computer using the included USB cable.
  2. Enter the U-Disk Mode: Briefly press the touch key three times (the indicator light will flash white), then immediately press and hold the touch key for five seconds (until the indicator light turns solid blue). Release the key (the light will return to solid white after two seconds). When the device switches to USB Update mode, the computer will recognize a removable drive named "Insta360".
  3. Click here to download the latest Insta360 Link Firmware file. Copy the downloaded file to the "Insta360" drive.
  4. Start the update: Briefly press the touch key three times again (the indicator light will flash white), then press and hold the touch key for five seconds to start the update (the indicator light will flash blue slowly).
  5. Exit the U-Disk Mode to complete the update: Upon completion of the update, the camera will restart automatically. A solid blue light indicates resumption of normal operation.

Please note: Do not disconnect the USB cable during the firmware update process.

For Link 2, Link 2C, Link 2 Pro, and Link 2C Pro

  1. Connect the camera to your computer: It's recommended to use the included USB cable.
  2. Enter the U-Disk Mode: Briefly press the touch key three times (the camera's indicator light will flash blue), then press and hold the touch key for five seconds (until the indicator light turns solid blue). The camera enters the USB Update mode, and your computer will recognize a removable drive named "Insta360".

  1. Click here to download the latest Firmware file for your camera. Copy the downloaded file to the USB flash drive named after the camera.
  2. Exit the U-Disk Mode to complete the update: Disconnect the USB cable and then reconnect it. The camera will now update automatically. Once the update is complete and the camera has restarted, the firmware update is finished.

Please note: Do not disconnect the USB cable or operate the camera during the firmware update process.

How to uninstall/downgrade/revert firmware

If you need to uninstall or revert to an earlier firmware version, follow the steps in "How to update firmware" > "Method 2: Via U-Disk Mode".

When downgrading or reverting firmware, go to the Downloads page of the Insta360 Website, select your device model, and download the previous firmware version for your device.
