By connecting an external microphone or Bluetooth device, you can improve audio recording quality and adapt to various shooting scenarios. Below you'll find step-by-step instructions on connection and FAQ to help you achieve better audio performance.

How to connect external devices

​Connection method 1: ​Bluetooth connection
  1. Ensure the third-party Bluetooth device is in pairing mode. For pairing methods, refer to the device’s instruction manual or the brand’s official website.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the camera’s "Shortcut" menu, and then tap "Accessories" > "Add Bluetooth Accessories". ​
  3. Search for available devices in the camera, and select the Bluetooth headphone or microphone you want to connect to. Once connected, the device can be used as an audio recording device.

No, this feature is not supported at the moment.

4. How to confirm if the camera has successfully connected to a microphone or Bluetooth headphone?

Once the Bluetooth connection is successful, a rainbow bar will be displayed at the top of the screen to indicate a successful connection.

5. What is the effective audio recording distance when the camera is connected to a Bluetooth device?

It is recommended to record audio within 4.9ft (1.5m) for optimal sound quality. Audio can still be recorded within the range of 4.9ft (1.5m) to 6.6ft (2m), but the quality may decrease.

6. After connecting Bluetooth headphones to the camera, can I hear audio through the headphones during playback?

No, Bluetooth headphones connected to the camera can only be used as microphones for audio recording.

7. Does the camera support connecting a microphone via an audio adapter?

No, this feature is not supported at the moment.

8. If the camera has been connected to a Bluetooth device before, will it automatically reconnect to the Bluetooth device after being powered off and back on again?

Yes, the camera will automatically reconnect to previously connected Bluetooth devices within 40 seconds of being turned on.

9. Can the camera connect to both Insta360 Mic Air and Ring Remote via Bluetooth simultaneously?

Yes. Once successfully connected, you can record audio with the Insta360 Mic Air while controlling camera shooting via the Ring Remote.

10. Can the camera be connected to a power source, an external microphone, or a Mic Air receiver at the same time using an adapter to enable charging and audio recording simultaneously?

This is not supported at the moment. If you connect both a power source and a microphone to the camera via an adapter, the camera will prioritize charging by default. The audio input will automatically switch to the built-in microphone, and the external microphone will not function.
