Video Recording

Q1 What video modes does GO 3 support?

Video, FreeFrame Video, Timelapse, TimeShift, Slow Motion, Pre-Recording, and Loop Recording.

Q2 What is the difference between the Video and FreeFrame Video modes?

Video mode files are saved as VIDxxx.mp4 and can be viewed directly on any media player. Videos shot in Video mode apply in-camera FlowState stabilization during filming.
FreeFrame Video files are saved as PROxxx.mp4 and need to be exported through the Insta360 app or Insta360 Studio to apply FlowState Stabilization.

Q3 What is the resolution of GO 3's videos?

The video resolution varies depending on the mode:

Mode Resolution
Video 2.7K:2720x1536@24/25/30fps
1440P: 2560x1440@24/25/30/50fps
1080P:1920x1080@24/25/30/50fps
FreeFrame Video 1440P: 2560x1440@24/25/30/50fps
1080P: 1920x1080@24/25/30/50fps
Pre-Recording 2.7K:2720x1536@24/25/30fps
1440P:2560x1440@24/25/30/50fps
1080P: 1920x1080@24/25/30/50fps
Timelapse 1440P:2560×1440@30fps
TimeShift 1440P:2560×1440@15/30fps
Slow Motion 1080P:1920×1080@120fps
Loop Recording 2.7K:2720x1536@24/25/30fps

Q4 What video file formats does GO 3 support?

MP4

Q5 What type of footage requires exporting through the Insta360 app or Insta360 Studio to apply FlowState Stabilization?

This applies to footage shot in FreeFrame Video, Pre-Recording, Timelapse, TimeShift, and Slow Motion modes.

Q6 What is the maximum length of video that can be shot with GO 3?

The maximum video recording length depends on the mode, settings, and model of your GO 3. You can view the estimated total recording time on the screen's top-left corner at any time.
For example, the 64GB model can record roughly 2 hours and 50 minutes in Video mode at 1440P/30fps in 16:9 resolution. Recording time may increase if the subject is not well-lit, as it reduces the bitrate and uses less storage.

Q7 Why are my recordings from GO 3 presented in a circular/spherical format on my computer?

If you are viewing GO 3 videos on your computer and they are in a circular/spherical format, it means the videos were recorded in FreeFrame Video mode. In this case, please click here to install Insta360 Studio and process your FreeFrame Video files via Insta360 Studio on your computer.
Recording a circular/spherical file offers some benefits over a standard video file. Benefits of recording in FreeFrame Video mode include:

  • 360 Horizon Lock
  • Option to readjust FOV (UltraWide, ActionView and Linear) in post-production
  • Ability to change aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16 and 1:1) in post-production.

If you prefer to use the standard (non-circular) video file, please record in Video mode.

Pro tip:
You can customize button controls to your preferred recording modes. To do this, connect your GO 3 to your mobile device, then under “Settings” of the Insta360 app, go to “Button Settings” and select your preferred recording modes. Click here for a detailed tutorial.

  • Take a Photo
  • Start Recording
  • Stop Recording
  • Mark That
  • Shutdown Camera
You can enable/disable Voice Control by swiping down on the screen > Settings > Voice Control > toggle switch.

Q9 Why is footage viewed in the Action Pod blurry or lower quality than original footage?

Q10 What are the different levels of FlowState Stabilization?

GO 3 has three levels of FlowState Stabilization, each optimized for different scenarios.
Level 1: suitable for daily activities (small preview delay)
Level 2: suitable for strenuous sports such as running (medium preview delay)
Level 3: suitable for extreme sports like mountain biking (large preview delay)

Q11 What is the maximum bitrate of GO 3?

80Mbps

Q12 How many shots/how long of a video can be recorded on the 32G/64GB/128G models of GO 3?
