By connecting the Quick Reader, you can quickly back up camera media, conveniently view the files in the memory card, or charge your camera. This article details how to use the Quick Reader.

How to charge your camera with the Quick Reader

Place your camera into the Quick Reader, then push the USB-C connector out to connect a power adapter for charging.

Indicator light status
  • Charging when powered on: Solid green.
  • Charging when powered off: Solid red, and the indicator light will turn off when the camera is fully charged.

How to connect to your phone/tablet to view or export files

Viewing files in the microSD card
  1. Insert the microSD card into the Quick Reader's card slot.
  2. Push the USB-C or Lightning connector out, pinch the side latch to secure the connector, and plug it into your phone/tablet.

  1. Open the Insta360 app to view and edit files in the microSD card.

Viewing files in the camera
  1. Long press the camera button for 3 seconds to power it on.
  2. Place the camera into the Quick Reader, then plug the Quick Reader into your phone or tablet.
  3. Once the camera indicator light turns from cyan to green, open the Insta360 app to view and edit files in the camera.

Please note: If a microSD card is already inserted into the Quick Reader at this time, you can switch to "Quick Reader" via the drop-down menu in the top left corner of the album in the Insta360 app to view files in the microSD card.

How to transfer camera files to a microSD card

  1. First, insert the microSD card into the Quick Reader's card slot.
  2. Push the USB-C or Lightning connector out, pinch the side latch to secure the connector, and plug it into a power adapter or the Action Pod (the Action Pod needs to be powered on via a single press of the power button).
  3. Long press the camera button for 3 seconds to power it on and place it into the Quick Reader. A green indicator light means the connection is successful.
  4. Press the camera button to start the transfer. A blinking green indicator means file transfer has started. The device will also charge the camera during the transfer.
  5. Once the transfer is complete, the camera will beep three times, and the indicator light will turn solid green.

Please note:

  • To ensure a smooth file transfer, please do not perform other operations while transferring files.
  • OPPO phones require the OTG feature to be enabled in their settings to use the Quick Reader.
  • Phones that do not support exFAT cannot use the Quick Reader to read files.
  • The following phone models have been tested and confirmed incompatible with the Quick Reader: vivo X50 Pro, vivo X60 Pro+, vivo X70 Pro, iQOO Neo3, Samsung S22 Ultra, Samsung Note20 Ultra, Samsung S10, Google Pixel 3, and Red Magic 3.

1. What is the maximum memory card capacity supported by the Quick Reader?

It supports a maximum memory card capacity of 1TB. Please use a microSD card that meets the UHS-I, V30 or higher speed class specification and is formatted as exFAT.

2. Which charging method is faster: charging the camera in the Action Pod or in the Quick Reader?

When both the Action Pod and the Quick Reader are functioning properly, using the same power adapter (charging adapter) will result in essentially the same charging speed for the two methods.

3. Does the Quick Reader support fast charging?

No, it does not. Its maximum current is 1.5A. It takes about 35 minutes to fully charge a camera with a 5V/2A adapter.

4. How much faster is the file transfer speed when connecting the Quick Reader to a phone compared with file transfer via Wi-Fi?

The transfer speed is approximately 25MB/s or higher, with an average increase of about 50%. The actual transfer speed may vary depending on the phone model or memory card speed.

5. Does the Quick Reader come with an SD card?

The Quick Reader does not come with an SD card; you need to purchase one separately.

6. Can the Quick Reader be used without an SD card?

Yes, it can read the files stored in the camera, but cannot be used as an intermediate device for file transfer.

7. Can the Quick Reader be used with an external hard drive?

Direct file transfer to an external hard drive is not supported.

8. Can the Action Pod read the media in the SD card when connected to the Quick Reader?

No. The media stored in the camera can only be previewed.

9. Can the camera shoot while connected to a power source for charging via the Quick Reader?

Yes.

10. Why does the Quick Reader get warm during transfer?

Heat generation is a normal phenomenon caused by high-intensity data processing and power supply to the camera. You can use it with confidence.
