Gyro/Stabilization

Q1 Why do I need to do gyro calibration?

If the gyro is not calibrated correctly, GO2's stabilization and horizon levelling may be negatively affected. We strongly recommend to complete the gyro calibration to avoid such problems. Click here to watch the Gyro Calibration tutorial.

Q2 How will my footage be affected if the gyro is not calibrated properly? How do I fix it?

If the gyro is not calibrated correctly, GO2's stabilization and horizon leveling may be negatively affected. Please refer to the tutorial to perform gyro calibration.

Note: Completing the gyro calibration will only affect videos shot after this process. It is not possible to adjust previously recorded videos in the app or Insta360 Studio. If you wish to adjust videos shot before gyro calibration, it is recommended to use third-party software, for example Premiere Pro 2019 or Final Cut Pro X 10.4.

Q3 What can I do if the stabilization is not working properly?

If you're having trouble with the stabilization on GO 2, please refer to the following steps:

  1. With HDR video, it is recommended not to move while shooting as this may affect the stabilization.
    a. If the problem persists even with still shots, complete a gyro calibration (see tutorial for how to do this) then try shooting again.
    b. If this doesn't work, please send us the original file for further inspection.

  2. If GO 2 is not recording HDR video:
    a. Please refer to the tutorial to complete gyro calibration, then try again;
    b. If this doesn't work, please send us the original file for further inspection.

Note: If the stabilization in the standard video does not meet your requirements, we recommend shooting in Pro mode. Shooting in Pro mode you must export your footage via the app or Studio to apply FlowState Stabilization for even smoother shots.
