Flow Series: Tracking Issues with Apple DockKit or iPhone Native Camera App

Flow Series: Tracking Issues with Apple DockKit or iPhone Native Camera App

Applicable Models: Flow Pro and Flow 2 Pro

Scenario 1: iPhone native camera fails to track after NFC connection with Flow Pro or Flow 2 Pro

  1. Switch shooting mode

Switch the iPhone native camera to the "Video" mode for shooting.

  1. Verify device & system requirements

For optimal performance, ensure you are using an iPhone 12 or newer model running iOS 17 or later (iOS 18+ recommended) to unlock the tracking feature across multiple modes.

Please note: The iPhone SE series does not support this feature currently.

  1. Check Bluetooth connection status

Navigate to Bluetooth settings on your iPhone, locate the device named "Flow Pro/Flow 2 Pro Dock XXXXXX" (XXXXXX represents the last six digits of the gimbal's serial number), and confirm it has been successfully paired with your iPhone.

  1. Confirm that gimbal tracking is active
  • Check if the gimbal performs a "nod" (refer to the demonstration at 1:10 in the reference video).
  • Ensure the gimbal's indicator light is on and solid red. If the light is off, open the Insta360 app, navigate to "Gimbal Settings", and confirm the indicator light is on.

Scenario 2: Gimbal tracking feature is unavailable in third-party apps (Flow Pro/Flow 2 Pro)

Confirm if the third-party app you are using is included in the DockKit software compatibility list: Flow Pro / Flow Phone & Apps Compatibility List and Flow 2 Pro / Flow 2 Phone & Apps Compatibility List.

If the app is not on the list, the gimbal's tracking feature is currently unavailable within that app. You can contact Apple or the app developer to obtain more information about DockKit compatibility.
