Flow Series: NFC Connection Failure for Android & iOS Phones

Flow Series: NFC Connection Failure for Android & iOS Phones

Applicable Models: Flow Pro, Flow 2, and Flow 2 Pro

Description

When connecting the gimbal to an iOS or Android phone via NFC, the connection prompt appears, but the pairing process fails to complete. On an iOS phone, the initial connection is successful, yet all subsequent NFC pairing attempts consistently fail.

Solution

For iOS devices
  1. Ensure your device is an iPhone 12 or later model running iOS 17 or higher (iOS 18+ is recommended).

*Currently, the iPhone SE series does not support this feature.

  2. Disable Airplane Mode, enable Bluetooth on your phone, and connect to a stable network.
  3. Turn on NFC in your phone: Settings > General > NFC.
  4. Keep your iPhone on the home screen, and do not open the camera or other apps.
  5. Ensure the gimbal is fully unfolded and powered on (the indicator light stays solid).
  6. Tap the NFC area on the top-left of your phone against the NFC sticker on the gimbal.

Please note:

  • Phone case thickness may affect pairing. Please remove the phone case before pairing.
  • Avoid placing metal objects near the NFC sticker, as they may interfere with the connection.
  • If no popup appears during pairing on a phone running iOS 18.3.0, this is a system-related issue. Update your iPhone to the latest iOS version and try again.

For a more intuitive operational demonstration, please refer to NFC Pairing Tutorial.

If the connection still fails, please try the following solutions:

  1. Restart the gimbal:
    1. Press and hold the power button to turn off the gimbal until all indicator lights go out.
    2. Fold the gimbal, wait 10 seconds, then unfold it again.
    3. Press and hold the power button to turn it on, then retry pairing.
  2. Reset gimbal Bluetooth: Press and hold both the trigger button and shutter button for 3 seconds to reset Bluetooth. Then try NFC pairing again, and three beeps indicate successful Bluetooth reset.

  1. Disable Bluetooth on your phone, then try NFC pairing: your phone will ask to turn on Bluetooth, so tap "Allow" and finish the pairing process.
  2. Restart your phone.

For Android devices

First confirm if your Android phone supports NFC (some models do not).

If supported:

  1. Enable NFC in your phone's system settings.
  2. If there is an "NFC Launch Control" setting, allow access for the "Insta360 app".
  3. If there is an "NFC Do Not Disturb" setting, disable it.

*Special case: If the Insta360 app pops up automatically after NFC tapping but the connection fails, the gimbal is likely connected to another phone. Reset the gimbal's Bluetooth and retry NFC pairing.

If none of the above solutions resolves your issue, please contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.
